Anyway, why don't you post what it is that you see when you've made these adjustments so that people will have a better idea what exactly it is you mean.

I have watched the video several times and i can't see the hack. It looks more like luck to me. Oxcide you have stated that you turn up the contrast and brightness all the way and this allows you to see cloaked spies. This has been stated by several folks to be indicitave of a cheaters mentality, but then i have to ask this question. Can i be considered an exploiter because i can and do play the game at 1600 x 1200 AA8x and AS 4x and all the pretties turned on, still getting over 100 fps? Playing at this resolution i think gives me an advantage because my pixels are smaller and there for my accuracy is higher? Should i be required to play at a lower resolution because some folks do not have the hardware i do and my hardware gives me a possible advantage? (p2.4 core 2 quad, 4gb 1066 ddr3 ram, geforce 8800gtx 768mb pci express video)
Don't get me wrong i do not support hackers or hacks but i have been in a similar position as oxcide. i have been accused of hacking by a spy playing well cp and i shot him 3 or 4 times while he was cloaked trying to come in the base on the right side door i was on the first floor in front of spawn. What is really sad about the whole thing was that i was not even shooting at the spy, firstly i had no idea he was there, i was shooting at a medic, engineer trying to build a sentry, and a heavy all 3 times the spy got in the way. The only consolation i can offer is that i would rather have had my intended targets as they were doing more to damage to my team.
I am just saying that sometimes people get lucky and sometimes what at first glance appears to be a hack is pure, blind dumb luck and in your case oxcide it appears to be bad luck.

Yea but that doesn't allow you to see spies when no one else can, so no, in no way does higher graphical settings make you an exploiter.
Luck my ass. There was no one else around and he was on the other side of A when he shot a fully cloaked spy. Not to mention he admitted to being able to see cloaked spies.

Plus if pineapple decided to record this, it means this sort thing must've happened many times earlier on the server with the same guy.

Eh, I've had a few lucky shots here and there, I wouldn't find it too hard to believe. I can't watch the video, being at work.
But, just from the sounds of it, I wouldn't' feel upset about it if it were a permanent ban. Altering your game, through any methods - be in files on the computer or altering the hardware - is cheating. It doesn't matter if you need to download files or not to do it, you're still doing it and, apparently, don't see why that is a bad thing.
Not to mention I find that explanation hard to swallow. As stated several times, there is absolutely no way you can see any sort of 'shimmer'. The only 'shimmer' that you can see is friendly cloaked spies.
/shrug
There are plenty of other servers to use your 'monitor trick' on. Have fun.

There's a difference between an advantage and an exploit. I think it's when you can't tell the difference that you end up with the mentality of the cheater.
If you go to a lan party with a big monitor and a great graphics card will other people complain? Now enable a resolution trick that lets you see cloaked spy's with the monitor in full view.

If one were to try and argue that better system specifications were just as unfair as someone using cheats, I'd suggest to that person they invest in console gaming.
There is a vast difference between cheating and having a game run better than someone else.

Good graphics aren't a advantage, you'd have much better FPS if you disabled all the useless extra crap.
Infact Im pretty sure the CAL people put everything to lowest possible (beyond the video settings menu)

You raise a very valid point but i will use an analogy to explain why i do play the way i do.
You have the opportunity to have sex with the most beautyful woman in the wolrd, for me that is Selma Hyak, but in order to do so you must be in complete and total darkness. While it is still Selma Hyak, and you are geting down to bussiness a candle or two turns a great moment into one of divine proportions.

My opinion is that the video is fairly inconclusive. The judicial system, while not perfect, only allows for concrete evidence. No assumptions, feelings, what have you are conclusive. All I can tell from this video is that it was a one-in-a-million lucky shot that has the POTENTIAL to be a cheat. Now, Pineapple has stated that this occured a few times throughout the session but there is no supporting evidence. I'm inclined to believe Pineapple but I also understand that luck is the most abominable trickster in the world. I dont think you cheat... I specc'ed you on biggs and my server for a good 15 minutes and couldn't see any obvious signs of cheating during that particular gaming session. I think you may just be a good sniper. As far as hitting the cloaked spy through the eye at 1000 paces... well... I'm going to put that down as the shot of a lifetime.
We have discussed hardware advantages and I agree with Asai on his points. A hardware advantage is just that, an advantage. I dont believe it to be an exploit because valve has stated numerous times on the valve forums that spies are simply NOT rendered. They dont use an alpha shader or anything like that (while fully cloaked), they shade the model until its invisible and then DO NOT render it. No amount of contrasting or Hz tweaking is going to effect the outline of a spy. This leads to the arguement against oxide. Since its hardware impossible to see cloaked spies then his statement about tweaking his monitor and whatnot is false. \0=
What do you do? In my opinion, an unban followed by a HEAVY probation. (although you will probably remain banned on biggs and my server because I'm about a 15% opinion on there. d0=)
