Prop Hunt map rotation and suggestions.

you did not pay for a reserve slot.
you donated to SOP and were awarded a reserve slot in appreciation of your donation.
Allow me to rephrase that. I donated to get a reserved slot.

Quote:it does not award you any other privileges or rights. similarly, neither does your accumulated playtime.
No, it does not. The accumulated playtime should be an indicator to you that I understand what it's like to play on the server.

Quote:do not be surprised when you are slain and/or temporarily banned
Is that line stating we are no longer allowed to be friendly and will now be punished for doing so?

Also, do you have any response to my other points?

you're allowed to be friendly in the sense that you are friendly with people.

If you're giving sadviches to the other team that's the equivalent of setting up a teleporter to spawn for the enemy spies to use. You are an active detriment to the rest of your team accomplishing their goal. You are essentially griefing. You will be punished for griefing, yes.

I have no response to the other points because I didn't feel like reading the whole thing, and therefore i have no idea what the other points are. if you want to bullet point them for me, i'd be happy to respond

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.

What does time accumulated on the server and all of that have to do with anything? I'm not coming around here trying to start a pecker wagging contest over how long I've been here or what I've donated or any of that. I came here to voice an opinion on the topic and I did that. If I have to sit out, I have to sit out, doesn't mean I can't bring it up as a conversational point.
You've every right to voice that opinion, just as I've the same to criticize it. Spec happens, to have some sort of disdain for friendlies because of it seems silly. If that's not what you were trying to communicate previously I apologize for the misinterpretation.

The time accumulated comment was directed at Womb because a couple comments made it seem as if he did not fully understand what it's like to actually play on the server.

Quote:***Edit- Also, from the standpoint of time on the server, isn't the goal to keep new people coming in so the servers aren't stagnant? I can count on one hand the times I've stolen a kill and it was all accidental and I apologized, I've never once been vote kicked off of the server, never.
New players tend to spray and pray much more so from a veteran's point of view, no, the goal is not to keep it filled with new players, rather to simply keep the server filled with nice players in general (new and old). Don't get me wrong, fresh faces are nice, especially compared to some of the regs on there, but IMO should not be the main goal. From the server owner's point of view, TRAFFIC TRAFFIC TRAFFIC.

Butane summed up the bit about kill stealing well. If you're intentionally taking a player's kills it is most certainly griefing. Tough luck though if someone missed the second shot or had some competition in the area, they can't all be one person's kills.

Funny enough, I've not been votekicked either, or even kicked by an admin. Even tried to votekick myself a few times for fun with no luck.

Quote:***Edit #2- Fair and valid point about the friendly heavy having been able to kill you anyway, I have been vanquished Big Grin

It isn't all about kills, it's about enjoyment which is why I come around in the first place. But seriously, how many times are you in a match where people are all "One more for credit" or "Got my double" or what have you?
And if you'll notice, I give all my credits away. I hate the credit system and support removing it. (sorry Deja Tongue )

In closing I'd like to note people will often ask if I'm friendly or not when I join, and sometimes I'm not completely honest when I tell them yes. Gotta keep people on their toes.

That analogy is laughable and you know it.

Pointing out props is detrimental to the hunting team? I'm a big fat friendly heavy with triple effect combos how could anyone miss me? If anything I'm also helping teach new players where to look.

Let me guess, wearing a bigass hat on my prop is griefing now too because it is detrimental to the goal of staying hidden.

I broke it out into paragraphs when I posted, surely that's not asking too much to read.

the analogy is accurate.

"friendly heavy" is stupid and there is no way to justify it

Anyway, the point of this suggestion was because the range of heavy's minigun makes them overpowered and some way of nerfing it would be appreciated.

Here's my opinion.

Firstly I'll cover some of the already said stuff.

I'm fine with heavies, like a few said they're not that much of a problem. Sure you can get some spray and pray types but such is life.

I strongly disagree with 'friendly' classes. To me you play team blue to kill, not be handing out sandviches. Same goes with props that don't hide, just run around the whole map from the start of the round, why bother?

Some new maps would be awesome, I remember when the current maps were added. Was so new and fresh, everyone finding new spots to hide etc was really fun. Tongue

Also taking out the server killers, cyberpunk to name one

Also take out the option to scramble teams, or fix it.

Secondly and what is the biggest issue, the ghosters.

They know who they are, I've been playing long enough to spot them. Sure I may not have 100s of credits, months of server play time. But I've been around for a while.

But really there is no way to stop them, what would help is taking away their incentive. The credit, system. A number of people just play for credits, helping friends out by running towards them for free kills among other things. There's a lot more to PH than getting a few digits added to your rank.

I think I've covered everything Smile

I'm not sure who you've seen ghosting, but generally the people I've seen ghost have fallen into one of two categories:

1. Trolls: who tell spots or props just because they feel like annoying the server or whatever other reasons they may have.

2. Newbies: who are first time joiners that just feel like getting a slight advantage with their friends.

I can't be sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if most ghosters had no idea what the credit system even was. And even if they did, I've never seen a ghoster actually give a regular a run for their money. The small number of kills they benefit from doesn't really help them surpass everyone else. The only times I've seen players get a huge advantage was when they were actually cheating, with some kind of wallhacks or speed mod.

i know of at least three regulars that ghost

I'm not talking about the 'Trolls' or 'Newbies'.

But the regulars.
