I'm sure people could sit here and flame the idea all day but I will give my reasons (and they're not bitching).

Is it possible to put a limit on the number of X class per team?

I understand everyone wants to get their achievements or use their new weapons. I also get that people don't want to go to achievement servers to get their crap and that's fine.

For those of us that aren't going for the scout stuff it makes it very hard to play a map with 5+ scouts per team. I think 5 of one class should be more then enough.

Thoughts?

I'm sure some of you may be as well (*snicker-snicker* insert jokes here*) but I need them for a project I am working on in March.

I know we have some females here in SourceOP (ty to those who have already offered to help) and I know some of you males have wives/girlfriends/sister/mothers/etc who play video games of some sort. I'm looking to pick some girlie brains.

If you know a girl gamer willing to be interviewed by me, let me know and I will privately send you contact info so that she can speak with me. It can be anonymous, if requested. ty, ty Big Grin

I like the map Goldrush, so I figured I would join the 24/7 server for a little bit of playtime this afternoon, and when I join, one team is up on the other 25-3, and on the round I joined, the losing team didn't even make it to the first cap.

The server is stupid with the stacking, shorten the map time, add a scramble, force random team join, do something, it's not fun on either side of the stack and the losing team had a steady stream of having people leave then people joining and unwittingly taking their place.

I have a general understanding of how things work with Valve games and your ability to run scripts to increase performance.

I'm wondering if anyone (not guessing or just "well I heard from this dude") has any solid information or links that I can read concerning why my frame rates drop so low.

On a server created by me with no one else I average 60-70 FPS.

On the OP servers when populated (out of combat) I get around 20-30.

On the OP server when in combat I get 5-10 FPS.

When I reinstall TF2 and run it at default settings with DX 9 and at medium graphics I get the same frame rates as above.

When I drop to DX 8.1 and run a script that literally makes it look like we're playing Super Mario Bros. I still get the same FPS.

Basically at default settings I get the same frames as I do if I turn them all the way down.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all.

My specs:

Pen 4 3.2 GHz Single
2G of ram dual-chan
30mb HDD (just to hold WindowsXP)
300G HDD holding TF2 and everything else
Nvidia 7300 GT

I don't have the best computer, but it's not that bad.

Obviously I need to upgrade to a new one at some point, but still.

Any information/help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

DF, can you change the point scheme to match up building a sentry to the same points as self destroying it?

If I'm playing Engi and I want to move my Sentry/Tele/Dispenser it actually costs me points to blow it up and reposition it.

I've been meaning to post this and I'm 99% sure the points to blow something up and build it are different.

Thanks.

Up until now I have recently been able to play TF2 for about a year with no problems whatsoever. Now when I start the game it brings me to the main menu and just freezes there, sometimes even the blue screen of death. No option buttons are displayed, just the background art. I cannot even ctl alt del out of it, I have to manually shut down my laptop each time. Counter Strike Source and non source also freezes up. I've tried running them all in -dxlevel 80/81 using -novid and +mat_forcehardwaresync. Nothing works. I've installed about 20 different drivers, ran driver sweeping software, ran RAM stick tests, installed new BIOS, new chipset drivers, upgraded to SP1, cleaned out the dust from my vents, reformatted my hdd, and about a hundred other things that dont come to mind right now.

Over the past 4 days I seriously have spent about 20 hours reading forum posts about this issue.

Good news is that this failure with nvidia cards and windows vista is somewhat common. Seriously, just google "nvlddmkm.sys" or "0x00000116"

From the novels of text that I read there are many causes to this problem and many supposed solutions to it. I'm really at my wits end here. Very depressed I can't play games anymore.

I have no money and the laptop (yes I game on a laptop) is out of warranty.
It's been fun sourceop.
Real fun.

I played on a server one time (Can't remember the name) and it had FF turned on during the humiliation rounds, and let me tell you, it was freaking awesome. The ability to TK people that were running their mouths the whole game about how terrible the team was and how they did everything was satisfying. Also it gives you something else to shoot at.

Basically there are no good reasons why this idea shouldn't be implemented.
