The intel room is huge and there's a nice extra stairs to the battlements, it's easy to bypass the sentry hordes.

Gosh, try not to act surprised next time someone complains about you with that attitude.

Relax, I'm just kidding. I was teasing the people who have been around sourceop far longer than I who didn't remember.

I read!
Also, wasn't it granary that was missing from the rotation and then I eventually added it because I would always manually switch to it anyways?

No, you always had granary. I remember because I used to hate it and thought you should replace it with well, which wasn't in the rotation.

Ya, I had a 24/7 well server. It was always empty.

I was just looking at the stats page...
http://steampowered.com/status/tf2/tf2_stats.php
Scroll down to Time played per map (% of total)
ctf_well is just above 2 percent of total play time of all default maps. (minus goldrush because they haven't added it to the stats yet.)
Badlands has twice that and was released almost a month later. lol. I know that's most likely due to players wanting a new or different map to play, but you can't deny that ctf_well is the least liked/played map among the tf2 community.

I find the issue with CTF_Well kind of amusing.
At first, people were really upset that it was no longer a CTF map and now a CP map. Really upset. So, Valve listens and makes Well CTF again. Now people seem to really hate it and prefer the CP version. I'm not sure why that is. One could argue because its not the exact same lay out, but really, its pretty darn close. I think Well is just a better CP map than it is a CTF map.
When well was created, it wasn't made CTF because its better than CP, CP just wasn't really viable on the Quake engine when it was released. I imagine if Well was always a CP map, people would wonder why the hell Valve would make it a CTF map.
I think in general, CP is a lot more interesting than CTF. CTF is fun ... but doesn't require or promote team play as well as CP does. One person can change the course of the game too easily in CTF. CP involves the team much more and you tend to see (well, at least I do) less "lone wolf" mind sets out there.
/shrug
Long story short, I think people just prefer the CP version of the map and maybe feel like having to play it again as CTF feels like it's repeating too often. "GD, Well again?" I do enjoy CTF_Well from time to time, but I do find myself going "eh ..." when it comes up. I don't think I'd want it removed but on the same token I don't think I'd be too upset - or notice - if it were gone.
Perhaps make CP and CTF well as far apart in the server rotation would help alleviate the issue? I'm not sure of the exact numbers, sorry for my TF2 failure, but if there are ... 7 maps, make it so the 1st and 4th maps are Well. That way, it never repeats as often as say.. the 1st and 6th map - where you only have 1 map between different Well game modes.
Course, I honestly have no idea what the map rotation is ATM - it may already be set up like that.
