[OLD] suggestion/feedback thread

it wasn't so obvious to me,since time pass and the names could also be outdated...aren't we in a forum born about a plug in for half life?
why be so rude to me?What I said in my post so offensive to be laught at?

I just tried to stick to the rules you (?) wrote or at least decided to follow, I failed one time according to you (and I repeat,I don't want to complain) and asked what to do for not failing again.

Why do you feel to be so rude at me and treat me like an idiot? Cry

just to clarify, since I feel bad for your words (I won't cry for someone treating me like a kindergarden kid on the internet, but neither I'll get happy about it),what happens when you search for sourceop on google?
you get this as the OFFICIAL and first result:

SourceOP Forums
forums.sourceop.com/‎
This is a discussion forum for SourceOP and item trading for TF2, DotA 2, and ... <-----------------
‎TF2 Item Buying/Selling - ‎Contact Us - ‎Deputydogusn - ‎SourceOP Forums

and that's the meta description in your source code:"This is a discussion forum for SourceOP and item trading for TF2, DotA 2, and other games."

ok,I understand I'm stupid and I should feel bad about it,tank you for reminding me,but at least I'm not crazy as you can see.

thank you for your ''response'',I will follow the hint and sell just tf2 stuff. And have a good day,I guess...and sorry for asking and wasting your time.

who said anything about laughing at you? as for the dota tag, blame skyrider.

You Are The One Wrote:As for part two, I am not an expert in all forums of payment systems nor do we have the staff/time to learn. It has been suggested and being looked into internally to re-allow some, but these other methods are far harder to independently verify in general and why they are frowned upon.

I just wanted to point out that bitcoin is probably the easiest payment method to independently verify. All transactions are recorded in a decentralized public ledger, a.k.a. the blockchain, which anyone can view on a site such as https://blockchain.info/ This means that no one can fake a transaction or hide the fact that a specific transaction occured.

This video is a good technical overview of how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx9zgZCMqXE

I hope you guys will look into bitcoin further, I know a lot of users would be happy to have it as a payment option.

I'm aware of how BC works, but it does not help in verifying payments as in does not tie a user to an address, I could link any BC address similar to what the trade should be from the recent blocks and claim it as my own. Sigs can be verified, but just as easily changed in seconds. Only way this could conceivably work is users disclose a public address in threads, not sure if they would go for it.

A screenshot of the steam chat log would be needed to confirm the agreed upon address and amount, but isn't that also the case with paypal? Or what method were you thinking of to link users with a paypal transaction?

Why does it take so much to approve a new rep thread? How long does it take generally?

How many users actually screenshot chatlogs, based on how many complaints I get for various trade related disputes? very few. PP can always be looked up and provides additional info that can be cross-checked against other sources.

Its a legacy thing from the old forums where we would verify working steam links of users/quick background check them aswell. We dont plan on doing this again anytime soon since we upgraded the forums.

I don't understand how you would reliably link a steam user to a paypal transaction without a chat log. Any method I've thought of would be easy to defeat by simply using a second paypal account.

I wont go into detail, but its much easier to link to a specific user then one would think.

any thoughts?

Let's say a user claims that a seller scammed them. They say they sent paypal first but the seller never delivered. The seller claims never to have received any payment. You're saying you'd be able to prove whether the payment was sent to that specific steam user, without a chat log?

As for posting a public address in threads, no I don't think it would work, too much loss of privacy.
