New laptop!
#31

That's another low-end GPU.

The way that you can tell is (on nvidia) the first number is the series number, the second is the series grade, and the third is whatever they fuck they want it to be.

At this point the series doesn't matter much because they're all new enough and you don't want the series grade to be below 6.

Prefixes GT, GTX, and GTS are The consumer grade. GT is medium-low end, GTS is high-end, and GTX is enthusiast.

grades 1,2 and 3 are generally made to shit out low-end powerpoint presentations on low resolution business projectors.

Try that guy. GTX 260m is more powerful than GTS 360m because of the prefix conundrum. You might be losing a little juice on the processor, but overall gaming performance won't really be impacted much, if anything you should see improvement just because the GPU is more powerful.

i would feel kinda silly taking a core 2 duo processor laptop for $100 more than an i5 :/ should i not hold my breath for newegg to restock, then?

The extra 100$ is for that beefy enthusiast GPU, and on refurbs you never know when they're going to get them back in (IF they're going to get them back in.)

so, 4 cores vs 5, what's the difference in computing power? Is it going to be noticeable?

Actually both the i5 and the core 2 duo are dual-core.

The i5 was multi-threaded so it has 4 threads, but that only helps in situations where you're CPU reliant.

They both have about the same clock with 3mb's of cache, so the processing power for gaming should be negligible. Even in benchmarks that specific i5 was only pulling about 10-15% over the core2duo (in 32-bit applications the Core2 actually did better)

The core2 also has a lowwer TDP, meaning it runs cooler.

so you'd give the goahead on buying?
you're right, looking at the specs, it does look sexy as hell, and the i5 seems to have more of a price tag associated with its name right now.

BUT...yeah

I, too, have won a bet by chugging maple syrup. 64 oz bottles, thrashed a dude who had 150 lbs on me at least.

But I couldn't even stand the smell for two years. Miserable. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
