the goldrush server is exactly the same as being on valve1 with goldrush on it. It is not hard figuring out the issues.

I would recommend pfrog as a new 2fort admin. Nipsy Russell as a Gold Rush admin. SighCommander as a second Valve Maps admin. These are responsible adults who take server rules seriously, play the servers a lot, and I doubt would be abusive with admin rights. Sunkistadora's group is sourceops largest and she does promotions. Maybe she could do a few for sourceop? Please, before I get laughed out of the water, these are only recommendations, someone is bound to have BETTER ideas.

If the experiment works removing autoscramble from GR I'd like to see it removed from 2fort No BS as well. Most of my core group are regulars on this server and I know they would like to see it removed. There are so many [dBs] out there that we rarely all play on the same team anyway.

I would also like to agree with the adding a few admins. We were playing VM1 the other day and there was a total griefing douche bag on there and we tried to votekick him several times. Everyone on our team voted yes, everyone on the other team voted no. It would have been nice to have an admin to jump in and do a quick short ban to discourage his behavior. He was spamming racist and sexist remarks. It seems more and more of these people are invading the servers. Several players and I left because of him. It was unbearable to play. I did try to use the contact admin feature, but all it did was lock up my game. I tried to PM Hell-met but it seems that he removed me from his friends list and wasn't responding to the chat request through SourceOp steam page. Perhaps he was AFK. If we are recommending admins, I'd like to recommend KarmaKaze [DesA], he is level headed and mature. He also has a great deal of knowledge about servers. He always helps me get the dBs server up and running after updates crash it. He is also well liked by everyone. pfrog is also another good suggestion.

Now I know Ibby posted his screenshots about Nipsy. I can say this. Nipsy is passionate.

I am hoping you guys will take time to think of ideas to improve the servers and community then post them here.

I understand the ideas present will have some discussion regarding their merits but I am hoping you guys have ideas. Even if you play another sourceop server surely you can think of some things to help improve the populations at Gold Rush, 2fort No Mod, and Valve #2.

This weekend may not be a good measuring tool for the change at Gold Rush because all the other servers are full except Valve #2.

Any thoughts on how to get the Valve #2 population up and running?

I would second the nomination for Karmakaze as an admin. He is definitely level headed enough to handle the powers that come with that. More admins would definitely help with some of the assholes we have seen on source op as of late. I know we have mute and votekick, but the threat of a perma ban alone would make a nice difference.

Actually, I had a few promises made to me that didn't pan out. I also noticed that sheer volume of servers that were empty (other server communities) and this was during the summer. The experience did help me though particularly with having to sit in a server like it was my job just to try and fill it. Trust me, having to do it on a consistent basis stinks! I loaded into Sourceop Gold Rush last week and had nightmare flashbacks as I was running as scout hoping that people would join. Seeing the server empty at 4PM yesterday left a bad feeling in my stomach.

Running a large community is not easy (or starting one).

I also recommend Karmakaze as admin along with pfrog.

I'm with sdogg on all points. More admins that are active per server and try to help foster community growth with those admins. Our forums(GD's) are the default go to place now for Gold Rush. For a while we'd schedule our clan nights but make public announcements to get our friends playing with us. Maybe we need to schedule some more and see if we can't get people playing again. Our BGL events did help draw in some people from clans like Team Win who didn't normally play on SourceOP. Maybe some more events like that will draw in some more clans.

Of course prime time isn't really the problem, it's the day shift it seems like and without Euro's it's going to be tough to fill at that time of the day. They can't play with the lag.

I think new admins would be a good first step though.

Went ahead and scheduled a couple of events(one day and one night) on our forums and on the GD fan club Steam group. Hopefully that will help attract a little attention and get some people to come on and have a good time and know that the servers will be full.

A few points to consider:

-The reason the servers could be not be full 24/7 is because people are just straight up tired of the game, I haven't gotten on TF2 in a few weeks and I don't really miss it, and Glouch hasn't played in a few months, the past few updates have just made the game not fun for me anymore.

-If valve #2 is dying, I don't think changing the hardware it's on will affect it, seeing as how it is already not full.

-Another reason I don't play much anymore is because of the amount of fucking terrible maps on Valve 1, I can't stand any King of the hill map, and there are a number of other maps that I disconnect when they come up on unless half the server is on my friends list.

-I seem to recall DF making the Goldrush server a Goldrush/Badlands server a while ago (I believe I suggested it) and apparently everyone hated it.

-Still waiting on a server with [PRO ROTATION] in the name to actually have one (unless this has been changed since I haven't been on)

-I nominate myself as an admin candidate, I would start playing again and DF knows from my constant squealing to him what constitutes a ban and what not.
