Goldrush Scramble
#31

I have returned to see if any consideration has gone into any sort of scramble for this server.

I love you all.

I know this is a huge necro on this post, but I joined the forum specifically to address this issue. I've played on the Goldrush server a lot and have had a lot of fun, but recently the team stacking and lack of balance has driven me to remove it from my favorites. The lack of spectator and a scramble based on score differentials is really what killed it for me. Not even a votescramble. I know it says "no mods" but I'm starting to think that should change. A scramble would do wonders for the server. There are literally people who come in and say "Ah damn I'm not on the good team today" and leave. People who are autobalanced reconnect to try and get back on the stacked team. Its ridiculous. Please do something about this as I really enjoyed the server for a long time.

I joined to post this. I'm a regular on the goldrush server.

That's the best goldrush server. On the internet. It has incredibly high quality team play. It is one of the few public servers in the world to regularly host players as good as any in the world. It has a high level of mic communication and is full 24/7. It's a treasure for sourceop.

So the obvious thing to do is to fuck with it? Why would we fuck with the best goldrush server in the world?

Typical Goldrush regular:
I LIKE GOLDRUSH BECAUSE I ENJOY PLAYING ON REALLY STACKED TEAMS AND MAKING ALL THE NOOBS RAGE. IT GIVES ME SUCH A SMUG SENSE OF SATISFACTION WITH MYSELF AND MAKES UP FOR THE SENSE OF INFERIORITY I HAVE IN REAL LIFE. PLEASE DON'T MAKE IT SO THAT MATCHES ARE EVEN/BALANCED BECAUSE I WILL CUT MY WRISTS.

Fuck you. How the hell is reducing stacking bad? It makes new players want to avoid the server because they're getting consistently raped every time they play. I don't know how any idiot can argue in favor of making matches more balanced, since this makes for more exciting games, better team play, and greater improvements in player skill.

tl;dr (although how couldn't you, everyone loves caps): it wouldn't be fucking with the server, it would be fucking with team stacking, a legitimate issue.

I don't mind people who play goldrush or 2fort all the time.

What pisses me off is when they THINK they're GOOD.

even though there are numerous facts (map layout, team balance, class effectiveness, medics, teammates helping you) that simply cannot apply when measuring skill.

For example, a lone engineer taking down a fully healthy and aware soldier is amazing. He probably outsmarted him and pulled some crazy shotty aim.

A soldier taking down a lone engineer isn't. You aren't special with your explosive damage.
