Goldrush Scramble
#11

the thing about the goldrush server is that teams aren't really stacked. Adder and I joined the non-"stacked" team once when it was something like 14-1, and our team won the next 4 or 5 games.

I think Omega has a valid point of fixing the players, not the system

What's he going to do? Assign the players as he sees fit?

That will just kill the server and give the impression that sourceop admins are there to fuck with people, not protect the fair play of the server against cheating/griefing/micspamming scum.

People regularly stack on all the servers, and even on the goldrush server there are players there who are extremely anti-stack.

Any server that doesn't change maps will see the more talented players gravitate towards each other because that is enjoyable, other than playing with complete idiots who just want to play sniper and not talk to each other.

Sorry, you got on a bad night.

A votescramble option would be cool, but it would be initiated after every round the team loses. If that were enabled, I would like to see some sort of cap on it, such as only once per 30 minutes or so.

I think whenever someone proposes a scramble vote the server should change to 2fort. Except on the 2fort server.

actually i'd much rather play on a game that has evenly distributed good and bad players, so i can rely on a few teammates without having too easy a game.

It is a problem though when people get balanced to the perceived bad team and will reconnect to avoid it. Those people should expect to get banned.

I'm guessing you were talking to me here?

It wasn't a bad night. It generally happens every time I get on. I just chose random to join a game and we won 28-2. I switched teams a couple times to help and got auto'd back to the stacked team when a group of the [dBs] guys left, but overall, Goldrush stays stacked.

Very rarely is there an epic battle.

No matter what the case may be, putting in a scramble would be nice. It isn't always the team getting raped that wants the scramble either. The general consensus of folks that play in there would rather have a mix of good/bad players and have better rounds than just pushing the cart from beginning to end in 4 minutes.

This is probably the best solution, but maybe after either team has at least 1.5 or 2 wins so that there is a chance of rebuttal.

every 2 wins scramble? doesn't sound that bad IMO. though generally the teams are never "stacked" just players aren't doing what they should so they lose and complain that its stacked whether it is or isn't. But this scramble shouldn't heavily affect playing with friends while fixing actual cases of stacking.

I don't think a vote is ever a good solution because the perception of a stacked team and a stacked team in reality usually don't match up. Then the vote distracts from the match, and provides even less incentive for an "unstacked" team to get organized. After all, there's a scramble vote proposed, obviously the teams are stacked and the match is unwinnable; why try?

A mandatory scramble or even just a map reload makes sense on a 24/7 server since it's essentially like a map change on a rotation server.

BTW, I never play on this server so I don't really care.

This will not work because all of the stacker always rejoin when they get autobalanced.
At leats thats what i think.

Anyways i think goldrush is fun the way it is.

This will fail also, I had seen people on spec for as long as the 2 minutes limit to join the stacked team, and if they fail and get on the other team they will just reconnect to the server.
