Aimbotter on No Mods/No BS server
#1

Tonight, this piece of trash "syK" blessed us with his presence. I have posted links to 5 demo's of his aimbotting, which he did not even attempt to hide.

I know it can be hard to get people to take the time to watch demos, so figured I'd check it out. I've seen lots of cheats in many games and I'm having a hard time saying yes or no on this one.

The shots look feasible to me... as in there was enough time to react and aim. There are kills from body shots, and even complete misses. I don't see any telltale signs of an aimbot, as in the reticule snapping to a player or perfectly following a particular bone through several frames in ways a human can not.

Sometimes he gets headshots while he wasn't quite aiming at the head, people get shot several frames before you see him fire, or they get shot while he's still turning toward them but before the reticule is over their body. There could be some aim correction, maybe within the packet and not the client itself... but that just makes me think we're not seeing what he is seeing due to latency.

The demo has an obvious delay between what is happening on the server and the actions of the player, so it's hard to know what happened for sure. I question the accuracy of what the demos are showing. If they're spot on, I'd say there was foul play.

Demos 3,4,5 look a little questionable, but you may have cherry picked a few exceptional moments.

I'd continue to watch this guy. In future demos, try to keep one consecutive demo going. To avoid getting kicked for being AFK while spectating, just bring up the team menu every minute or so and click the spectate button again. The menu will not show up in the recording.

It's too bad we don't have SourceTV demos recorded by the server or something that might be a little more accurate and show the entire round, but I don't think the cheating is rampant enough to warrant it.

I can appreciate skepticism as much as the next guy, so please don't take what I am about to say as an insult.

If you are defending what is shown in these demo's, you are delusional. The very "snapping" you refer to is present in every shot fired. The player arcs ~50 degrees to headshot victims twice in a row unscoped. This person is not even a decent player, sans- aimbotting, based on their play outside of the brief moments of aided shooting, so you are giving too much credit.

As far as latency, I am on FIOS 25 mb up/down.

To the "cherry picking" comment, the demo's were shot in succession in about a 7 minute timeframe. I assumed the forum had a file attatchment feature, which are usually restricted to 3mb or less.

Hopefully, you are not the one responsible for making sure this player never rejoins a sourceOP server again.

I'm not saying he wasn't cheating, I just feel that it's inconclusive.

Your bandwidth has nothing to do with latency (could be his or yours or a combination of both). The players that die before he fires, that's not from a cheat, it's cause it's not all synced up properly. This certainly doesn't prove his innocence.

My cherry picking comment is not an accusation, but a recommendation based on what I was told in the past after removing scenes during which the player in question was respawning so the video was short enough to fit on YouTube. I still had the full length demo though.

And no, I'm not the person responsible for banning people. If I see him around, I'll certainly do what I can to determine if he is in fact cheating and gather evidence.

Reviewed them. Did the following in console for additional visual info to detect possible wallhacks:

Code:
sv_cheats 1
alias blinking "r_drawothermodels 2;wait 5;r_drawothermodels 1;wait 50;blinking"
blinking

my conclusions:

syk.dem:
- Tick 1-500: Shooting the mini-sentry, he pre-aims TRU the floor directly to it, he has to compensate for the small ledge when he moves asside: wallhack.
- tick 500-1000: headshot pyro, inconclusive, viewed at 17% and 30 %, but the cursor was on the body when shooting.
- tick 2900-3100, he sees the sniper coming from the left thru the wall. (hiding in the backyard doorframe)
- tick 4500- 5300, spy he keeps his view on the cloacked spy, checks only the corner to the right to be sure that its not his own team mate in the backyard. Shot is a hard one to get, he does it in 1 time, again inconclusive due to huge lag difference, and cursor remains "smooth" even on low speed.
- tick 7500-7800, spy He sees the spy coming and zoomes in before he should be able to see him incoming, zooms in on the wall, and then magically headshots him. (edit: with magically I mean, he does no pre-aiming there, just lower left of the doorframe, and then sweeps up right straight for a headshot)... this is the main one why I suspect a aimbot.

syk2.dem: not much to see here.

syk3.dem:
- 1600-1800 he's aiming TRU the wall for the spy, only the friendly spy backstabs him, so he goes for the demo.

syk4.dem:
4600-5100 Here the big telltale comes with the heavy he shoots. his crosshair is not even MOVING all around when under fire.
Watch this, and what happens with my crosshair... its all over the place, and the only time I ever pulled that off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKbEWJCQ030 (and believe me, since that I've been trying)

syk5.dem:
check behaviour, especially with the heavy coming from upper left enemy battlements. His cursor "stays" when a enemy player is about to come out there.

so far impression: Wallhack or more probably a skinhack (for not seeing invis spy), slowmoving crosshair aimbot. No-spread/no-shake hack or w/e its called.
Too high a coincidence for always having his crosshair on the right side of the enemy battlements to "see" them coming.

Aimbot is not really proven in my opinion. Suspicion is there tho.

wallhack/skinhack is proven in my opinion, leaning toward skinhack cos of the spy's, but it might be that he's smart enough to not shoot them cloacked.

no-spread/no-shake I would have to test out by spectating a sniper who's under fire by a heavy. It might be that the spectator does not get the "sway" from the enemy heavy's fire which the actual player may have.

/edit: just tested it out with a couple friends and me spectating. the spectater does not see the sway around of the cursor as the player will.

He's a pretty fucking obvious aimbot nobody fine tunes snapshots in scope. Along with twitch aim and just being beyond obvious.
ubercharged.net Wrote:On the subject of techniques, sniper is 90% aim, but there are some techniques which can make you more effective. The first technique, scanning, can greatly increase the speed with which you are able to land shots. Scanning consists of roughly aiming at head height while unscoped, so that when you do scope in, you have less fine aiming to do.

Snarf, would you please elaborate on the tell-tale of the aimbot if your post is serious?

Cos drag shots do work too.. I do them often nuff when I get surprised with a enemy sniper in my view when zoomed in for something else. (often do a quick body shot so their aim is jumping)

I know scanning, and most times I zoom somewhere near and then do a drag shot.

2fort is an exception, I zoom in on the front of their battlements and drag it up to their head to do a shot. (to prevent that my laserdot is visible to them, when waiting for a victim, and it also helps when one drops off, just headshot 'm while they're falling down...).

why do you people have so much trouble identifying an aimbot? It's an obvious aimbot I shouldn't have to explain that his aim is twitchy and that his shots are unrealistic. Aimbots are obvious and he is no exception, i'm curious as to how many you have actually seen. Also drag shots don't always work and even top tier snipers miss drag shots often enough.

And incase you are really just that oblivious, http://www.tf2items.com/profiles/76561198027305515 Hire date august 5th, clearly it only took him 8 days of tf2 to learn how to snapshot better than top tier players. Along with his profile not being setup which is another big clue. Come ON people through all of your extensive essay writing did you not look at his items?
