Everytime I see someone write DERP it reminds me of a body noise. I was wondering exactly what the heck DERP means?

Oh thanks! It's funny, I always feel obligated to say "Excuse you" or "Bless you" when people say that. Now I sort of understand but wonder the origin of this bizarre nonsensical word.

It's a alienated version of "hurr durr", which was invented by South Park years ago. It became popular recently via extremely valuable sites like 4chan. Just google South Park hurr durr and you will understand the meaning of life.

I was saying it over 12 years ago, south park hardly invented it. It's just a word that sounds nonsensical and stupid. Which is the entire point.

Actually, the word first came from a movie from the 90s, which was by the South Park creators; a year later they actually named a character Mr. Derp who was IN South Park, who yelled Derp! and was generally just stupid as hell.

I think he was pointing out that you had an unwarranted feeling of self-importance because you claimed to be saying the word "derp" before South Park.
