Why all the hate for crits?

They force changes in the rhythm of the game. Don't tell me you don't get really excited when that shiny rocket is heading to your face.

I get so excited I accedently my whole pants and need a new pair, that's why I hate them.

Buying a new pair of shorts every time I get hit with a KRIT RAWKET is expensive.

I just get sort of peeved in Arena where you don't respawn, when it's down to 1v1 and you get random shotgunned or something similar but equally lame.

Randomness in a game of skill is why people hate crits. Having a random chance to almost guarantee a kill is often defined as a lack of skill.

Skill: the ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well.

Luck: a combination of circumstances, events, etc., operating by chance to bring good or ill.

So skill is something you have control over while luck is something that just happens. This is why people see random criticals (not kritkriegz) as lame.

I don't mind them in normal play when I respawn a few seconds later. But I've been playing on the sourceop arena server a bit lately and every time I get killed by a crit it pisses me off to no end.

I think people dont like them due to the fact then when they get hit by them they get fuckin decimated. well not always if your real good but other than that they get crushed.
