You have to consider that at least some of the people who play there joined to avoid random crits. There's probably a very high correlation between people who dislike random crits and people who want to eliminate random damage.

Also, why do you give a fuck since you hardly ever play there?

it basically adds an element of luck to the game that has no business being there. The one example hell-met cited is hardly a reason why it should be left on. The other 99.9% of the time it's messing up your good shots, screwing with scout duels, etc. and you don't even know it. As omega said, it's a stupid game mechanic to have on this server.

And you can't even argue in favor of realism to defend damage variance (for most weapons). A real life shotgun is less variable (by far) than the bullshit in TF2. Worst game shotguns ever. Ever.

okay I think there's a bit of confusion in here.

DAMAGE SPREAD is NOT bullet spread.

Those are two different things.

DAMAGE SPREAD is the minimum and maximum damage something deals.

Like, the fireaxe deals 59-72

this means everytime you hit someone, randomness picks a number between 59 and 72.

If you disable DAMAGE SPREAD, the fireaxe will ALWAYS deal 65, no exceptions.

All weapons have a "random" damage range.

As for BULLET SPREAD on pistols and shotguns and miniguns, there is no command that makes it non-random

Be aware however that the first shot of a pistol and the first pellet of a shotgun will always be 100% accurate. This means you can snipe people with the revolver if you wait 1,25 seconds between your shots.

You can make bullet spread non-random:
"tf_use_fixed_weaponspreads" = "0"
game notify replicated
- If set to 1, weapons that fire multiple pellets per shot will use a non-random pellet distribution.
