Actually both the i5 and the core 2 duo are dual-core.
The i5 was multi-threaded so it has 4 threads, but that only helps in situations where you're CPU reliant.
They both have about the same clock with 3mb's of cache, so the processing power for gaming should be negligible. Even in benchmarks that specific i5 was only pulling about 10-15% over the core2duo (in 32-bit applications the Core2 actually did better)
The core2 also has a lowwer TDP, meaning it runs cooler.
