actually adder's idea is pretty awesome. Also solves the issues of afk people who don't vote.

75% isn't enough to skip sawmill, and then gorge is skipped for more sawmill

People who don't vote are not included in the totals. Adder's idea is alright I guess but only like 6 people are going to vote each time.

what about assigning number keys besides 1 and 2 to pick the next map?

No people would catch on, extend the vote to a 1 minute timespan and leave a message at the bottom of the screen that sais type !vote to vote for the next map.

So only a small percentage of possible voters will vote, then the overwhelming majority will complain about whatever gets voted on even though they didn't vote? Sounds like the American way and I think it should be implemented.

The true American way is to be as lazy as possible. Leaving it as it is fulfills this axiom (DF doesn't do anything and people don't have to actively try to vote). The only real way to improve its American-ness is to find a way to deep fry it.
