+1
Removing them would solve that, the other suggestion of increasing the damage penalty would not help as the "friendly heavys" don't shoot anyhow and would encourage the normal heavys to shoot even less.
It would solve Spray and pray hoovies. The original complaint. You can't remove people wanting to be "friendly" by taking away heavy, just the class, without making a "you must be super serious when you play here" as a rule.

OneGunSalute Wrote:Also, because I just saw it happen in the server. Friendlies can be almost equally as detrimental as spray and prays because often times they go stand next to a prop and start spamming "The scout is a spy" which is essentially ruining that props spot. Some people don't care, some do.
Not sure how that is detrimental per-se. They could have just killed you.

Any heavy using a gun to them is considered a "spray-n-pray" heavy.

exactly.

friendly heavies was one of those "community rules" that the server was recently enforcing that was driving off new players. there were countless votekicks against heavies using the minigun, and it was retarded.

if you're on the hunting team you're hunting for props. if you're not doign that then you aren't playing the game and are just taking up a slot in the server.
Yeah the server is full all the time and player slots are so scarce. I'm not taking credit for friendly heavies, I certainly did not encourage or see other regs enforcing a "friendly heavy rule," but I'm well known on this PH server for feeding some props and trying to make the game more entertaining. If you think PH is or should be just one big killfest I really have to question your SOP prop hunt experience. Try to make it all about kills and you'll see increased votekicks for "kill stealing." Did you ever play when Snake Doctor was a reg?

Additionally, just remove the natascha. Heavy runs slow as balls and that makes up for the increased firepower. Not to mention we have to carefully eat the sandvich to heal now or run all the way back to the CP... slowly. Sandvich taunt has not healed for quite some time on PH.

I paid for my reserved slot. If I want to heal some props I will. Show me one person who bitched because I let them live. I don't get bent out of shape if someone kills a befriended prop either.

Lastly, how many days have you accumulated playing the PH server in the past couple years?

@OneGun, you're totally right. As a friendly heavy I've NEVER been forced to sit out. Not. Even. Once. /s

The real issue you seem to have there is the fact someone has to sit out at all... in arena mode.... But alas we can't always keep an even number of players on the server.

OH, did anyone remove the option to call a team scramble vote yet? Seems to me OneGun would be furious about that if just one player sitting out is such a downer. When scramble passes, two thirds of the server spends the next round in spectator.

added my rolleyes to be less offensive.
edit:
I would preferr to leave the heavy untouched and ppl stop forcing made up rules on everyone else and attempt to kick them for breaking a non existent rule.

On the issue of "kill stealing" its one thing to follow a player around the map constantly and intentionally taking all his "kills" as that would be griefing, but a prop running away from a pyro and into your sights for a kill is not kill stealing as some ppl think it is.
edit2:
On the issue of "killstealing"
6:25 PM - ?4?? [DesA]: agreed 100%, but i know for a fact some immature people will attempt to votekick because "that was MY kill" i've seen it too much in the past. deja and snake doctor were bitter enemies for a while because of it

Also. Feel obligated. We really do need to do something about the team scramble vote. If you can't fix it, disable it. It doesn't get called that often, but when it does it just causes headaches.

mr. wanx,

you did not pay for a reserve slot.
you donated to SOP and were awarded a reserve slot in appreciation of your donation.

it does not award you any other privileges or rights. similarly, neither does your accumulated playtime.

do not be surprised when you are slain and/or temporarily banned

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.

Frankly, I don't care, I am going to play on the server anyway, it's the only reason I even play TF2. What does time accumulated on the server and all of that have to do with anything? I'm not coming around here trying to start a pecker wagging contest over how long I've been here or what I've donated or any of that. I came here to voice an opinion on the topic and I did that. If I have to sit out, I have to sit out, doesn't mean I can't bring it up as a conversational point.

***Edit- Also, from the standpoint of time on the server, isn't the goal to keep new people coming in so the servers aren't stagnant? I can count on one hand the times I've stolen a kill and it was all accidental and I apologized, I've never once been vote kicked off of the server, never.

***Edit #2- Fair and valid point about the friendly heavy having been able to kill you anyway, I have been vanquished Big Grin

It isn't all about kills, it's about enjoyment which is why I come around in the first place. But seriously, how many times are you in a match where people are all "One more for credit" or "Got my double" or what have you?

Sadly, everytime, should just disable the credit system.

That would go over as well as removing hlxstats from valve1. It's there for people who care, not obvious for people that don't.
