What you've just said is that if the government (the game) prints a lot more money (drops more items), then that money (those items) will be worth more and create a stronger economy. I wonder if you have a basic grasp of how economies actually work and understand the idea behind inflation.

Team Fortress 2 is anything but a typical economy. And the price of refined has stayed relatively stable for the past 6 months despite the fact that the supply is constantly growing. It's futile to try to apply all the rules of a real life economy to Team Fortress 2. And there's no capacity to craft items as far as I know in Dota 2, so I'm not sure by what currency these items will be valued.

Crafting will be introduced in the future. I'm sure there will be an alternative to refined also. And keys are the basic currency valued at 2.5$ each

So I'm confused. The argument of 'you have to play, not just idle' means people no MMO has a big item market?
Or that it means that people won't still pay money for items that they're too lazy to get themselves via playing?

As long as it has a large player base, and there are players that are lazy and/or insane, there will be an item market, running off the backs of the poor an irish. It just means the traders/merchants have to work harder to get their inventories in.

The argument was that Dota 2 will have a larger economy than TF2. I have no doubt there will be an economy in Dota 2, I just disagree that it will surpass that of TF2.

I couldn't care less about Dota 2 having more players.

TF2 is cooler.

Could we have a source? I'm legitimately curious about that.

Dota 2 will be the bigger and better game, but as for it's economy, we shall wait and see, it's honestly too early to say whether it will be better or worse

Bumping this to give it a bit more life... I have a few questions.

Does anyone have a complete list of the unusual effects for DOTA 2?
Can only Couriers become unusual right now?
Are there any trading sites dedicated to DOTA 2 trading right now?
