The Arena server is reaching an apex of popularity. It's almost impossible to get in. Today, I had to wait 16 minutes for a slot to open. I would love to see a new arena server.

I got temp-banned for "ignoring warnings to shut." I didn't see the warnings, but don't know what I did that would have warranted them...

The background to this is that Half-Duplex was on my team, talking a lot of trash in general and provoking many people to start vote-kicks against him. What I was saying was stuff like: "Congratulations, you have now made yourself feel better about yourself by talking shit on the internet."

Then Insomnia Princess said she was going to kick people for vote-kick abuse -- For starting vote-kicks against Half-Duplex.

Then I got kicked, about 10 mins later, after I made the following statement, which was a twisting of Half-Duplex's words: "Did you just say that you would not touch Insomnia Princess with a 20 ft. pole? Since when did you talk shit to admins."

OK but look I don't really care about getting kicked from a TF2 server has I can go find others to regular. But I thought I had found a good place to play with a good community of players. Does this demolish that opinion?

If I had a server I'd want to feel free to run it any way I want to, but I wouldn't kick-ban players because of the things that I said. Especially if I had a community of players establishing on my servers, I'd try to have a more "rule of law" approach than "kick anyone I don't like" or "kick anyone who talks trash to Half-Duplex."

When I got kicked, people in chat were complaining that the admin would kick people who talked shit to Half-Duplex, but not kick Half-Duplex for talking shit... Really...?

Is this how this server is to be run? I mean I'd want to keep playing here but not if this is typical.

Hey, I've been playing SourceOP Arena for a while and love it but I thought I'd ask why votemap/RTV doesn't work/isn't implemented.

"Votemap" seems to be a working command but doesn't let anyone use it, at all. Is this broken? Or is the server supposed to have it disabled? I'd really like to see it enabled again, maybe even if just a donater could call the vote. Just as long as there is a way to change the map when most people on the server collectively agree that they don't want to play on the current map.

Any reason this isn't used on the arena server? (Or maybe even the rest of them, I don't really remember)

Maybe some other arena players could post saying whether they'd like to see map votes or not?

Spectator: Another disabled feature : (. I understand "If it's enabled people will try to afk in it". But is there not a way to just auto-kick someone after 15 minutes??

Many skilled players come into the arena server and sometimes I'd like to record a demo of them playing a class I'm not that good at.

(not to mention someone hacking/cheating could knowingly pick the server because they know that no one can spectate them. Only a very obvious cheater would ever get votekicked.)

Edit: Oh, finally. votescramble is a very useful command to make non-arena servers (which I don't play often because there is no votescramble) not stack quite as much. When ever I join a SourceOP server I find that the teams are usually lopsided. One second I'm the 1337h4x0rz pro and another time we'll get spawn camped before a cart can even move an inch. Stacking really ruins the fun of that gamestyle (unless you stack intentionally--which I don't find fun or challenging to gloat while team-stacked or pretend I'm better than I actually am)

Anyway, just some suggestions to make a great server even better.

Well thanks for reading.

I like those maps and would love to see them added to my favorite server, SourceOp Valve Maps #2.

How do others feel about these maps?

Drunken Fool, do you think you would do this?

Anyone else notice all those Dead Ringer "Deaths" actual count as deaths according to the HLXStats?

Is this being changed at all in the near future or should I just forget about those stats?

Server is enforcing file consistency for particles/water_dx80.pcf

every time i try to connect to the valve map server I get kicked with that message.

I tried verifying and defragging and that didn't work. so I uninstalled and reinstalled and I am still getting the error.

any suggestions?

I donated earlier tonight and later when i tried to connect to the server I was getting denied. I had let the form fill in my steam id so i thought I would make sure it was right. My paypal reciept has STEAM_1:1:701782 when my actual number is STEAM_0:1:701782 which is the same as on the stats page.

dunno what happened. they were so close I thought it was right. If someone can set me straight I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

BBJ

I found the Dead Ringer earlier, and in using it... if you are hit by an opponent, you lose the points you would lose if he actually killed you, even if you got away.

Is that a bug in HLX ? Or meant to happen?
