nvidia 8800 gtx problem
#1

alright heres the problem
when trying to play a some games (like gears of war) you nvidia card crashes, just the card, and results in the game i'm using crashing as well, then it starts back up, i have had this problem in the past with other games, and i fixed it by lowering the games graphics, but this is already at the lowest level, is there anything i can do to fix this???

update your drivers
also, maybe it's a problem with the card itself? could be overheating, or not getting enough power, or... could be defective

i don't think it actually has anything to do with the graphic level, seeing as how GOW runs at a far lower level then lost planet, COD4, and ghost recon, could it have something to do with a particular setting???

i don't think its over heating seeing as how it was made to work at "2nd degree burn" temp, and i also tryed letting it sit for and hour and still it crashes about 1 min after i start the game, i also tryed updating the driver but it had no effect

i doubt its a defect in the card, seeing as how it still works great with most other games?

PS. SInce when does doubt have a "b" in it???

What do you mean by the card crashes?

i get an error that says says my nvidia 8800 has stoped working, but only for an instant, which is just enough to cause a game crash

What? I've never seen this? What tells you? A balloon tip? An error dialog? A blue screen?

I agree with what Kaylee said. Overheating? Power? Defective?

um the error is only for a split second, it comes from that area right by the time display (forget what its called), it alomost seem like the card just resets itself

vista gives him the error "Your video card has had an error, but started responding" or some shit. Try down-clocking your card and making sure that you have enough Power, ram, front side bus, cooling.

I am having a problem with my 8600 gt where it artifacts out after a couple of hours and quits... I thought it only did that when it was overheating, but I vaguely remember catching the temperature and it was at about 46degrees... (it could have been higher, but I could barely see anything though the artifactual barrage). Even though this card was only 50$, I am starting to hate Nvidia again...
