ok what all causes laggg????im aksing this because im lagging all over the place for the last 2days and im just curious..lets look at this qeustion from a 1st person point of view, i hope yall understand what i meant by that

CPU - Speed & Usage
Graphic Card - Old, bad drivers?
Hard Drive - Old and or Slow.. or could be fragmented.

running the game on high graphics
running mutiple programs at the same time(this is why i hate windows)
bad file organization(a simple defragment can help this)

haha panda i have a pentium 4(isnt AMD athelon best gaming processor?), and yeh windows is bad at having too many programs running at once, i deleted the spyware, but no viruses were found,my sound driver is totally screwed up and has been for awhile but i cant get my dad to fix it.should i disable mcafee when i play dm?,i havent defraged in awhile i guess i will l8tr. um everytime i play it used 2 say ur video driver is out of date and blah blah..this made me remember that my asshole dad took my nvidia 6800gt and gave his 6600....is a 6600 really out of date? um also im told that my internet connection is 700k(i have no clue what that means).Is that a good internet connection?also my pc gets internet form my dads pc via Belkin router.whats weird is sometime my cpu usage says like 60% when im not even doing anything and i cant figure out y.how do i tell if my hard drive is old or slow?and i have 1 gig of ram

In the computer world things get outdated quicker then anything. My card is a 6600GTX and it still runs games just fine for me. So i wouldn't call yours complete old just yet. For your hard drive you can tell if it old by how long you've had it. And if its seriously fragmented then it would really be slowing your comp down. 1gb should be enough depending on the speed of the ram it self... Should be a sticker on the ram stick saying the speed of it (ie pc2100, pc2700, pc3200).

So first things first.. defrag your hard drive(s) and see if it helps. Second, make sure all your drivers are updated (ie, gfx, mobo, sound). That should help most if not all of it. Plus you could try reformatting as a last resort and it that doesn't speed up ur comp then I'd say you got hardware problems

Should be a sticker on the ram stick saying the speed of it (ie pc2100, pc2700, pc3200).

u said sumthing about a sticker on my ram which one is the fastest/best speed?
