You complained that I was building sentries just for the points.

Yet they kill you all the time. You're one of my sentry's most favorite victims.

What is the point of banning someone for being useful?

In this case, I built a sentry on the battlements of 2fort to guard the bridge. I got 9 kills from it, went 9-2, then was kicked by kaylee for building it in that location.

I returned, built it again, went 2-1, and was kicked and banned for building it in that location.

I /tried/ talking about it in the chat. Explaining that it's a useful position, not only to keep the other team out, but also gives snipers more cover on the battlements. But kaylee never replied to any of these comments, instead just kept saying I was building the sentry there just for points.

This is beyond retarded.

If I'm 11-3 then the sentry is in a good location.

Get rid of this silly ban.

Repetively building sentries causes HLStatsX point inflation. I'm sorry if this is not what you intended, but it isn't allowed. People like Miphares also get on my nerves for stuff like this.

If it's true that you only built one sentry like your post suggests, then I appologize. If that were the case, then Kaylee was out of line.

Ok, I'll try to address everything, and hopefully I won't forget any points or leave anything out.

WAS IT USEFUL?:
The issue was that you were repeatedly building a sentry on the 2fort battlements over and over using the nearby cabinet even though it was getting destroyed immediately every time. I know, because I was sniping it every time it got started. I saw it once manage to start upgrading to tier 2, but it died before it even finished. I never once saw it fire it anyone, much less get any kills. (It certainly may have since I wasn't on the battlements every second due to my being a horrible sniper, but every time I got back out after a death it was either dead or died within a couple of seconds.)

Therefore, I doubt your 9 kills came from that one sentry; they were more likely from killing spies or anyone who got into your courtyard. The fact that you had 2 deaths certainly indicates some activity around your spawn point.

IN-GAME DISCUSSION:
I first asked if you were spam building it there just for points, and didn't get a reply. I gave you exactly 4 warnings to cut it out, and you certainly did argue your point, but you're mistaken that I didn't reply to them. We discussed it quite a bit. However, if you'll recall, your response to my 4th warning was "get bent." So, since the server wasn't at capacity, I kicked you out for 5 minutes to make it clear that wouldn't be tolerated (just as it building a sentry and manually detonating it wasn't tolerated earlier).

When you returned after 5 minutes, you immediately resumed the same behavior. Every 5 seconds you'd start a sentry out there, and every 5 seconds I or someone else would blow it up. Well, I'm sure you knew what was coming then, and most likely you just wanted to press the point and force a confrontation. I mean, you knew what would happen if you continued doing what you were JUST kicked for 5 minutes for, right? So don't act surprised, you got exactly what you were trying to make me do and now you're trying to raise cane over it here like I expected.

CONCLUSION:
The second ban I put on for 120 minutes, so I know this "get rid of the ban" thing is no longer an issue. Regardless, mister df is now aware of the situation, so I'll let anything further on this go to him

To address some of the other discussion I've heard on this topic, yes I HAVE seen sentries be useful in that location before. However, any reasonable person would eventually give up trying to put a sentry out there, not continue to build a new one every 5 seconds for god knows how long it would have gone on if I hadn't interceded. I wouldn't have a problem with someone building a sentry there, but the constant spam-building seems like a pretty clear exploitation of hlstatsx to me.

This may not mean much now, and I'm sure you probably hate me over this, but I really am sorry it all had to play out this way. I don't have anything against you personally and I'd love if we could put this behind us and stay friendly. I was just trying to preserve the hlstatsx integrity as I've seen DF do in the past; there was nothing personal about it. I'm sorry if you disagree with my decision or how I handled it, but I was just trying to do what I thought was best.

first: don't say you didn't see the sentry get any kills, because it killed you.

second: yes I had to rebuild it a few times because it got shot down, but it did get 9 kills, and 2 more after I reconnected. and 11-3 is an excellent k-d ratio. it was at level 3 for most of the time I was connected. just because you were sniping it a few times doesn't mean it went down often. one fully charged sniper shot does not take down a level 3 sentry. constantly pounding it with the wrench saves it from all but the strongest of concentrated attacks- like three soldiers rocketing it would probably work. don't say any "reasonable" person wouldn't build there, it gets great results. it stops the other team from crossing the bridge easily and it distracts the other snipers.

third: when you asked if I was building it there just for points, I replied /SEVERAL/ times (read my first post) with different reasons for it being there, all valid. as I said, you never discussed the issue, just complained.

last: you didn't warn me at all, don't even try to say that. pull up the log and yes, I definitely wasn't polite about it after you weren't replying to my comments, but not once did you say anything about getting kicked, OR most certainly about getting banned. put a leash on and try to learn yourself something useful other than being a pain. you said building sentries just for points is against the rules. and I wasn't building for points, and I said that more than once. please, DF, pull up the log and read through. find the kills from my sentry(kaylee was in there!) and find the conversation where I replied to her question and her complete lack of any warnings.

Well, I think we can just agree to disagree at this point. In the future you can certainly try to get a sentry up there but please don't spam build them over and over for extended periods of time.
