I have noticed the past few weeks that my shift+tab (to access the steam UI) has not been working at all. Now originally I thought this was some error with TF2 itself that I was just experiencing across the board. However since I only play on the Valve map server #1 I did not realize (until today when I did some actual troubleshooting) that the problem exists solely on that very server. I can connect to the valve maps #2 server (as well as many others) and shift tab just fine but the moment I join the #1 server all shift+tab functionality ceases.
This is also not an isolated case I have spoken about this openly on the server looking for solutions and have run across others having the same exact issue.
If anybody knows a current fix or can resolve this issue all together I would greatly appreciate it.

Change it to another key or combo. Since I've never had this problem.

Yes this is now a common steam problem. You're probably even pressing it more than once, thus re-closing it before it can properly show up. It can now take like 30 seconds for the GOUI to show up from the main menu. Steam and all associated products just get slower and slower and more bloated every patch.

I would be inclined to believe you guys if I was able to recreate this issue anywhere else in TF2 but that is not the case. I can shift tab on every single other server and at any menu location just fine but the moment I join valve maps #1 all shift tab (or any other binding of which I have tried multiple) functionality instantly ceases.
Essentially shift+tab works every single other place in every single steam game I own (including TF2) except for when I am on the valve maps #1 server.

Definitely a Steam bug. Perhaps the fact that you're on Valve maps #1 is not the issue. This is just a thought, but perhaps you are doing something like connecting to valve maps with the console but other servers with the favorites list and when you connect with one it works and the other it doesn't. It shouldn't make a difference, but all I'm sayin is maybe there is something subtle that is making a difference.

Actually CMD+Tabbing on the mac is better than Shift+Tab or Alt+Tab Windows side.
If it's the future, I welcome it.

Yah I was thinking something along the same lines originally. I tried connecting every possible way to other servers (auto join, console connect, regular join, etc.) and could not recreate the issue. I even went so far as to test servers with the same amount of players etc and couldn't recreate it.
Does steam maybe store cookie like settings on an individual server basis?

I also have started having my ingame stuff not work. I agree, it is definitely a steam bug, not a server issue. I usually check my friends list right as soon as the game loads. But after that last update or two, half of the time I can't open it before I even join a server.
