because CRTs have lower res and have smaller screens, so even if you DID find one with a high-res (I have one that goes to 2480x1600 or something) everything become illegible at half the res of an average LCD...

Most CRTs never break 19", which any good resolution (above SXGA) would be small as shit, and that is the point where 99% of the monitors start to overscan and look like shit. Therefore they use a SMALLER RESOLUTION, in which a larger HUD would take up most of their screen so they use a smaller HUD. Do I really have to spell it out?

May I also note that these monitors that aren't the 20$ CRTs (ie, ones that display in UGA or above WITHOUT overscan) are 800$ studio monitors which constitute less then 5% of the existing CRT monitors, I was clearly leaving those out of the definition.
