To help autobalance whine
#1

So this last week I've been building some resentment about autobalance. While useful, for some reason it's turned into a plague for me. Normally I automatically choose the "losing" side because I'm a helper-type (mostly playing a medic, afterall). But when I do join that losing side and work with people to start winning, somehow right before we do win, I'm the one who gets autobalanced. Ok ok the points for winning aren't much really, but maybe it would be less irritating to get autobalanced if points are given for being the random person to get switched. I consider myself a regular on the servers now and have worked diligently to move up ranks. Several times now I've lost those sought after points simply because I died at a bad time. As it is I frequently get shoved off the Goldrush cart trying to heal people and lose 30 points time and again, but never complain. This, on the other hand, is getting quite tiresome. I choose to not hump the cart over the checkpoint, I do not choose to get bumped to the other team.

Auto-balance is a necessary evil.

I kind of like this idea. The problem, though, is that people on the winning/stacked team will die, get auto'd, get points, then reconnect and wait for a slot on their original team to open up. cough DEREK cough.

Adder I've played with you a couple times actually. I'm not one of the people saying disable it, just give some tiny consolation to make it easier to deal with. It's frustrating to actually choose the losing team to start with (which is the idea behind autobalance because of rage quit), get things turned around and right before a win, get moved to the other team. I'm not even talking full points, just a single point given to recognize that you were the poor sap to get switched. As far as abuse, every activity can be abused to get more; abuse is a fact of gaming. Who's really going to take the time to leave and rejoin the server to abuse autobalance points anyway??

You'd be surprised. lol

Also, I don't think there is any way to make hlstatsx award points for being auto-balanced. I'm looking at my hlstatsx premium admin panel and there just isn't a trigger/action for auto-balance.

Your best bet is to try your best not to die when the teams become imbalanced.

autobalance is there to make people rage, also you need to learn to not care about sourceop points, they mean nothing. BTW i sell them.

I wish you could redeem them for cash.

My problem with the auto balance is this.

You joined the winning team
You've got 5 points, and aren't visible on the leaderboards
The guy on top has 50 points
You see the message "Teams will be auto balanced in 5 seconds."
More than 5 seconds pass
You are dead with your 5 points
YOU get switched to the losing team

In other words, the auto-balance believes it's better to balance teams by giving you the next person on the other team that died instead of the guy that's doing well.
