Tax Time!
#11

supercommierussian Wrote:[quote=Rostov]Don't like tax time eh Yanks? Come up here to Canada and see how much we pay in taxes and how much of that goes into pockets of civil servants as opposed to government services. Afterall, "The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy."

Well I dont mind to pay more taxes if they go for a good of all Americans.

Nowdays, our taxes go to military mostly, not healthcare or any social benefits you get in Canada.

And the road to hell is paved with good intentions. In the beginning of our modern social safety net(mid 1970s), all went forward relatively well. However, over the decades, public health care is taking up more and more of the entire budget.(1970 ~ 20%, 2009 ~ 33%, (projected)2025 ~ 45%-50%). Public health care is all fine and well until it starts taking funds from other areas, i.e., education, infrastructure, energy. Stop watching Michael Moore who only cherry picks what he wants his audience to hear.

One final note on social benefits. Public servants in Canada continue to enjoy fine pay and benefits while many in the private sector do with less even they're even able to hold a job. Pay more taxes for government services? Sure, it works when you begin. But more and more of that tax money merely goes to pay administration as opposed to delivering REAL services to the public.

supercommierussian Wrote:Sorry, but imho with your Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs + iraq = 0 point.

You forget to mention that EVERY SINGLE PERSON we are fighting in Iraq is a civilian terrorist.

Terrorists aren't considered millitant combatants because they don't fit the legal definition of a soldier under the Geneva convention.

And we saved more soldiers by ending the war with the atomic bomb than we killed in civilian population, even thought the war WAS all but won the Japanese wouldn't relent and we had to end it without any more bloodshed.

Now take your stupid uneducated opinion elsewhere.

This is funny when you use Geneva convention and killing civilian population in Hiroshima in one pointless reply.

Protocol preventing civilian casualties didn't exist until 1949.

not only that, but your Joseph Stalin killed 14 million of THEIR OWN CIVILIANS during WWII.

Somebody who applies the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion and isn't associated with any military.
