I take great pride in my backpack, and don't want dupes in it. I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to do that.
Some people pay more for fairtrade goods. It makes them feel better about themselves. Is it fundamentally the same stuff? Yes. Is is sourced in the same way? No.

everyone entitled to their own opinion. Don't get butthurt over opinions. Wars are started based on religious opinions. We should be loving each other, not fucking each other.

You do have an extremely nice backpack, however I cannot understand the hatred towards them. For instance, if you were hijacked tomorrow by some unknown means (god forbid you don't), and your entire backpack had to be restored by steam, what would you do? Would you actively pursue non-duped versions of your hats? Would you just trade them away very cheaply? Or would you be content with them still?

Would you buy a house that was bright pink, shaped like a penis and smelt like a sewer? No.
But at the end of the day, its still a house right?
(Would you buy a Burning Tossle that has been duped, scammed and valve restored? Yes.
But at the end of the day, its still a burning tossle right?)

There's no visual or stench (lmao) differences between a burning tossle to another burning tossle. The absolute only difference is the item ID - who the hell plays TF2 just to check item IDs? That analogy is pretty much moot.
The only thing that the word "dupe" is being used in the community now is to pick holes in a hat trying to make the owner feel guilty of something, and getting it cheaper. It's just scummy tactics.

Okay i have to admit my analogy was pretty bad lol.
BUT, a real rolex watch and a fake rolex watch do EXACTLY the same thing, but one has a real brand ID and the other not.
A real burning tossle and a duped burning tossle do EXACTLY the same thing, but one has a real ID and the other not.
See my point here?
People want genuine and real hats, not fake copies that have been wrongly obtained. (much like a fake rolex)

If your a collector like jag, Mattie, voo etc I get the dupe thing being s big deal. Hell if its ahat you are never ever gonna trade I get that to. However I'm with Cass on 99% of trades other traders just use it as a way to get the hat cheaper. When someone asks me if my hats are duped or not I say I'm not sure and I don't care. If it matters that much toc you check for yourself.

I prefer owning hats that are non-duped. Its true that the duped unusuals look exactly the same as the non-duped unusuals. However, I would still prefer to own a hat that had a good history. This would give me a better sense of satisfaction by knowing my hat was legit. Also, duped unusuals are harder to sell. That is why I tend to avoid obtaining duped hats.

That's a bad analogy again.
You don't buy a rolex to know the time. You buy it as an investment, status symbol and because of the craftsmanship. A fake rolex has a lot worse quality and someone who is knowledgeable of watches will instansly recognize it as a fake. A dupe is a 1:1 copy. A perfect clone sharing the same history. It's a digital item. Both are given to you by valve. It's more as if your watch got stolen and rolex makes the exact same copy of it with the same ID. Without a 3rd party program like TF2items you would never know that an item is duped. Yes the level is the same but not all hats with the same level are dupes. Some people in the tf2 community just like to obssess over things. I guess they have ocd.
I can understand that collectors want to own "clean" items but again, get hijacked once and bye bye to the cleanless of your hats.
