I was reading one of the incoherent blobs of text KING_OF_HEAVEN posted in the [Half Life 2 > mods] section and an interesting concept arose. What if we could make maps that only worked on a SourceOP server? With some decent mappers on our side, this would easily add to our popularity.

On a lesser extent, we could also find a way to make maps that had certain objects/features/pathways only available to people with a SourceOP client installed.

It would be completely pointless without a good mapping team on our side, but it would help to spread the word on our mod.

first to knig, thats wrong with a capitol FAIL
second to omega, i had the same idea, make maps that couldn't be accesed without jetpack, you don't really need a good mapping team, maping ain't really that hard, and if i could figure out how to use the decompiler i would edit some maps to be as fore said

I'm talking about actual code that identifies whether or not sourceop is present, and then restricts and assigns features accordingly...

the problem with that is that steam would KILL df
like i said the best you could do is make maps that couldn't actualy be played threw without sop toys, this would also be and easy modification, thiungs like puting the spawns inside of a pit

Larz is bringing up OCForums for no reason?

Steam wouldn't do anything to DF for making maps?

ANYWAY, the Hookmod Ideas were a lot better than this anyway...
