Quote:Since I was having some troubles with a couple of new games, I came in here to find out what was going on. After reading some of the comments, I felt it was important enough for me to finally see what these forums were about and participate.
Steam let me spout off and vent about the crappy games I bought, which is important to acknowledge.
Unfortunately, I just noticed that in another thread, one where I had nothing but pretty generic things to say. Every single one of my posts had been deleted.
Now I'm the kind of person who calls it like I see it and I don't pull punches. I try to remain respectful and diplomatic but sometimes comes out as vitriolic and mean. When I'm a bad boy, I get my hand slapped and I try to do better from there on.
This particular example was in a thread all about "e-Sports". I don't know how my wandering through the threads lead me there but I saw some comments that needed to be sorted out.
I'll give you some examples from memory...one kid wrote how his grandpa used to play Quake. I wrote something like, "Wow, just wow, I think I'll go away and cry now...lol"
Another guy refers to people who don't play these online tournaments as "civilians". So I mentioned that I was an ex-naval officer who found the idea that these guys think they are better than the rest of society one that is pretty spooky.
My last comment in there was something to the effect of "If you really want to be considered an "athlete" why not go outside and play some real sports"? I went on to explain that I wasn't trying to be insulting but rather to encourage these young guys to go out and try to achieve something real and tangible rather than settling for virtual success in life.
The reason I am explaining all of this is because my comments were far too tame to be censored according to any of the forums I have ever participated in since the advent of the internet. The only reason I can imagine some mod deleting every single comment I had made was simply to try and pretend that I didn't exist and to remove any evidence of what I had to say.
If the mods in here have the power to completely censor our views based on nothing more than personal whim or value judgements, then I for one, will sleep less soundly tonight. I find this terribly disturbing.
Been on Steam for a long time, brand new to the forums and remaining vigilant about our freedoms.

Where did the mods get involved in all this?
Maybe check 1st before jumping in the fire.
OP:
Quote:changing the text in the title of something that another person wrote is really ignorant.Clear proof that a moderator is editing other people's posts.

May 2011 - He's clearly new to Steam Forums. Maybe he didn't know the OP could delete their thread, so naturally assumed a moderator had deleted either the thread or his singular posts. No need to get so defensive over moderating for a simple mistake made by someone new to the forums, Eram. :/

Two of my on-topic posts on that thread was deleted, and the thread was locked.
When I sent a PM to eram, guess what I got?
