The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.

I thought you just turned off friends because you started going to a furry server.

Something I want to make sense of.
It was evident that R2-DERP2 had on that account somewhere near 3 million credits, I believe. Others can vouch for me when I say that, as the "info" command shows how many credits you have.
To get a credit, that's 10 kills in one round. That would be somewhere near 30 million kills in a prophunt server, when Versed had only begun playing on the server. (Shown by the "time R2-DERP2" command).
Would you mind explaining how he got these credits IP? I don't mean to be aggressive in any way, but I'm sure either one of us has it wrong, and I strongly believe I saw that many credits.

Sure, although it is irrelevant since he will not be playing there anymore.
Someone gave him the credits. Anyone can give anyone else credits. The command is:
credgive name #
But admins, as well as regular players, are incapable of giving themselves credits.
And for the record, he had not "just begun playing there". The both of us tested the server when it was first created and tested new maps when they were added. We also both played a big role in boosting the population of the server when it was new- joining, inviting friends to play, asking players from other SourceOP servers to come check it out, etc.
Once it filled out enough on its own to keep a steady player base, he spent more time on other servers he admined for but still popped into PropHunt from time to time. When I heard complaints about people saying there were no admins there, I told him and he decided to start playing there more in an effort to help the server out.
It's all a rather moot point now as he won't be there anymore but much of this argument over credits began with a small group of "regulars" staking their claim in the sever, acting like we were "new" and telling him he had no right to be there because he hadn't earned it like the rest of you. He most certainly did earn it. He earned it with the time he put into that server, boosting its populous long before most of you even knew it existed. He also earned it for the years' worth of time spent on the other severs, playing and admining and contributing to the community, volunteering for testing something DF was working on and so on...
Just because you don't know who a person is does not mean that they are "new" in the community. Browsing these forums, you are likely to see many names you don't recognize in your little world on PropHunt but I assure you they are an essential and vital part of the SourceOP community nevertheless.

On the topic of credits:
While I understand the community and the importance of credits as well as how they are used as status on PropHunt, there are some taking this so far as to suck the fun right out of the game.
I have been asked many times to buy something so I could show other players what it does. Many new players who don't even have their 10 credits yet will ask what they do. It's fun to be able to show them. It gives them incentive to earn their own, thus giving them reason to return to the server.
Regulars claim "We don't spend our credits! We save them." Ok... that's your option but here's an example for you. I was on once with about 1/2 regulars and 1/2 people I had never seen before. A new player who had never been there before asks what credits do and a regular says "nothing. we just save them"
So I tell him what they really do and the command for the buy menu. My guess is some of the regulars didn't even know you could buy things and they were just spreading false information.
So anyway, Versed comes on and buys noclip to show the noobs what it does. I bought a barrel and accidentally spawned it on a teammate which was hilarious. Luckily I didn't kill him but I couldn't say sorry enough since I didn't mean to. We're telling the new people how you earn 10 credits and how you can buy these things with it.
So one regular starts raging over it and I try to explain and figure out why he's so mad. So I say, "What if I just give a couple of the noobs 10 creds each and let them buy 1 item to check it out?"
And this guy says he will quit the server because "That's ridiculous!" and "It's not fair!" He said they didn't earn those credits. So I explain, "But there is a feature to allow you to give them to people" and he's still not going for it. He leaves the server all mad about it and the rest of us continued playing. Neither Versed nor myself bought anything else in that playing session.
But how silly is that, really? From a logical standpoint it makes no sense. I have tried to explain before that this is a way that admins can help boost the server or bring fun to it. There are some hours during midday and late, late at night when no regulars are on. It's all new names. It's a way for admins to show what can be done on the server and just to get involved and show we like to have a little fun with the players, too.
I was told by one player that Drunken F00l can do this because he made the server but that I cannot because I didn't earn the right. That made me lol in real life...
And for all the people complaining about Versed using some credits that were given to him, he gave away more credits than anyone by a long shot. He gave credits to players who claimed they were "cheated" out of them by the server. He gave 40 to a guy who was tricked by another player to spend his because he didn't know what the commands did. He gave some to another regular because we discussed how he is a really great player for the server and community- never breaks any rules, plays a lot and encourages a fun time for all. He thought it would be nice to toss him a few extra credits. Yet everyone wanted to complain about Versed having his credits in the first place.
I once gave a new member 1 credit... 1 itty bitty little credit because he said it was too hard to get any and he would never get one. Said "I'm giving up on playing here." So I passed him one and said "Here you go dude. Now you got one. Just spend time learning the maps and you will know all the hiding spots and earning more will be easy!"
So I get slammed on the server by a regular (who had a fair amount of his own credits) and told it's not fair unless I give everyone one, too. You'd think they were all 5 years old and I was passing out lollipops.
If it was really that big of deal, I probably would have given everyone on 1 each since there were only like 10 of us there but this guy started yelling obscenities at me. I don't respond well to abuse.
Yes, I get that credits are hard to come by. I respect how hard the regulars work to get them. I've had to work for my own as well. However, in a general sense, some people need to take it a bit more lightly. It's a FUN server. That's the entire point of it.
Versed has no interest in visiting that server again so again, that issue is really moot but I've said all of this just in a general sense. Some of the very people who complained about him are the very people he gave credits to. The number that he had is not really the point. The point is that he could not give them to himself. He was not a credit-producing machine nor did he have to give anyone credits but he did so because he thought "I have a bunch and they seem really upset."
I guess we all see where a little kindness gets you on that server...

I appreciate the well-said explanations, and understand the view of admins a little better now.
The only reason I ever brought that up is because although I understand you guys want to show new players the "buy" commands and encourage them to stick around and have fun, it just seemed like Versed was using them himself just for his own fun and benefit. I can honestly say I've never seen him give credits to anyone, but I wouldn't dare call you a liar. I believe your post has changed my view, and I hope Versed may someday return and become more welcome.
Thanks again for the explanations- I hope to see you more on the prophunt server (I've actually never noticed you, and rarely noticed Versed except when he was enjoying his barrels. :p)
