Currently the replay recordings are not available on the UHC servers.

I asked John about adding them, and he said he would depending if people request it.

So I am making a poll to see who would want it...




ADVANTAGES:

1) Instead of screenshots, you could potentially just link your sell / trade threads to a nice video of your unusual hat in action!

2) Adding "UHC : SERVER IP" to the beginning of videos could attract more people to the servers.


DISADVANTAGES:

1) Rumored to create lag issues.

* Would a 5 second video of your unusual hat really create much lag?




EDIT: Someone post an edited video. I want to compare the quality of the record system vs. my fraps recordings... I am still installing TF2 as the new update messed my system up.

The replay system in it's current state would be disaterous if implimented on a 32 player server. It'll lag the hell out of it, making everything super choppy

This is assuming it will not cause any major lag issues.

I am sure that it would be tested using the test server before being 100% implemented. This is just to server those that think it would be something they would want, or something they wouldn't want.

Thanks, yeah I think it would be rather cool feature.

Also, if people would put "UHC IP xxx.xxx.xxx" at the beginning of the video, it would attract a lot more people to the UHC servers.

lol, it lags down servers, takes up a slot, needs a http download on the server.

lots of the servers had put it up, and removed it soon after when it lagged the shit out.

that video competition of valve... lol, its turned into a competition to find a server that actually supports it now.

As for records on a trade server.... meh, not really interesting I guess, as there isn't much going on. ppl are going to show what? chat scrolling by with trade stuff? micspam "selling nv kabuto for v. beard" ? bit of random killing?

oh, the occasional spycrab duel... one could record it client side.

as its a opinion, and I'm barely ever on UHC, I wont vote.

Well yeah I couldn't find a server so I tried a local server, no go.

Ended up with 300+ ping at sourceop. Had a quick bash. Lag cost both teammates behind lives. And my own. I'll link it if thats ok =P

I'll be honest, I don't know if SOURCEOP or "OTHER" servers have the best servers possible? Or if the coding is just terrible currently.

Either way, I'm interested to know more, and find out more...

Feel free to discuss all of this in this thread, if needed I'll try to make contacts and find someone at Valve willing to listen and try and get it corrected. All I can do is try right?

I would like to have it on a UHC server. Seems like I find myself looking for servers that offer this feature now. I say "Just DO IT John"
