Maybe not the right place, but I was scammed.

Here's what I sent to Steam support:

Quote:Hello,

I understand you and your coworkers at Steam Support must get a lot of tickets concerning lost/hijacked/stolen TF2 items. I'll try to be brief and keep my anger out of the ticket.

I joined a random trading server and traded a user named "Profiler" (who after we traded has since changed his name to "Evolutionary" and made his profile private.) Here's his Steam URL before the trade: http://steamcommunity.com/id/godlolslol/
And after the trade: http://steamcommunity.com/id/alowerere/

In case he changes his profile URL again, here's his Steam ID: STEAM_0:0:20303260

I traded him when he said he had Earbuds available, and we spent thirty minutes talking about what he wanted and my reluctance to make an empty trade. He eventually convinced me that he wasn't a scam artist, and added a noisemaker as a collateral (though I knew it wasn't worth 7 keys + a buckaroo). He added me to Steam and I made the trade. Attached is the rather one-sided conversation I made with him when he declined the next trade request.

Now for the issue of getting my keys/buckaroo back. Here are two of my backpack links (before and after the trade).

Before (with 7 keys and the Buckaroo): http://www.tf2items.com/id/chekonjak?time=1301117423

After (with a Koto noisemaker): http://www.tf2items.com/id/chekonjak

I really don't care about what happens to the guy who scammed me. My goal is to retrieve the seven keys and buckaroo I lost. I don't need a Koto noisemaker, so you can remove it from my backpack (or I can just delete it).

I have immensely enjoyed playing Valve games (Team Fortress 2 included) the last few years and it is my hope that I can resume where I left off before this latest unpleasantness.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and investigate.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Had a similar run in with a scammer and lost an unusual Mining light and a bud. Hope that I will be able to get my items back as well.

I bolded where you told them you'd be brief and then where you finally get to your request several paragraphs down (in the middle of a parapgraph no less). A little reordering would probably get you a quicker response with better outcome. The poor Steam support guys get a gajillion messages a day. They don't care about your story. They don't care that you've immensely enjoyed playing Valve games the last few years. You'll be better off if you're quick to the point and leave all the details for the end.

Thanks for the reply Drunk. Should I delete the first message, make the edits you suggest, and repost? I can't edit the first message, but I added the following:

Quote:My last message was a little lengthy. To summarize, here's my request: to have my seven keys and Buckaroo back and the Koto noisemaker removed from my inventory. If the latter isn't possible, I'll delete it myself.

Thank you.

No, you're probably fine. I'm just saying, in general it's better to get quick to the point and leave details for later.

Are there any updates so far?

Steam Support hasn't replied yet. I'm not sure what to make of that, but I wasn't really expecting a quick answer anyway.

Steam support doesn't work on weekends, I would expect a response Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

I was a commando you know.
