In my opinion, with map votes you end up playing the same few maps over and over eventually. An option to veto the nextmap would be fucking sweet though.

I voted for the last option. It wouldn't make any sense to give the players the option of picking the next map to be played. If they want to get that picky, they can go to a 24/7 server. Also, there are some days where I favor one map more than others. Sometimes I'm in the mood for maps like Badlands, Hydro, and Dustbowl. Other days I might be feeling Badwater, Steel, etc.

Keep the rotation the way you have it, allow maybe two votes through the course of the map. Once every 15 minutes. If the majority wants to stay, then tough for those who don't. We shouldn't get the choice to modify the rotation, only the pace of it.

But how often would the vote occur, once every map? How would you prevent it from being spammed?

i'd only want to veto some maps but not vote for any particular maps. i kinda feel like it would rotate 4 5 maps over and over again if u could vote for maps even if it is random.

I dont really like the idea of being able to vote at all. I like to be able to play all of the maps, if all of a sudden maps are being skipped or being changed half way through im gonna have to try and find another server to play those maps on.

In games ive played with votes, you always get the same few maps over and over. Even if you do the five random thing, one of the 2 or 3 favorites is more than likley gonna show up and people will always vote for them. With veto, the same maps are going to be vetoed (sp?) over and over.

Veto just dosnt make any sense. Normally, people who dont like a map can leave the server. But with veto, people who actually like a map have to leave the server when it gets vetoed (sp?). People will generally veto alot, even if the map isnt bad and they dont mind it. They will veto to get to the favourites faster even though they can just as easily leave and find a server thats currently on that map.

If you implement a vote or something i can just imagine well and 2fort getting next to no playtime and i would have to try and find another good server for those maps if that happened. From my experience in other games, good public servers are few and far between.

Veto, even though I barely remember what it actually means.

I can see 2fort and Well getting no play time as a result of this. But lets be real. DF already has a 24/7 2Fort map. Not to mention that there is not only CTF_Well but also CP_Well, both of which are in rotation.

I don't mean to pick apart your examples given, although it does seem that way. But I do see the point you are trying to make and I agree with you about good servers being few and far in between.

Hmmm on one hand I like the idea of being able to vote for the next map, but on the other hand it would probably be the same 3-4 maps over and over again. I am getting sick of just plain valve maps as it is, let alone if I only play the same 3-4 over and over.

I think the only map the regulars really agree they don't like is 2fort, the rest of the maps are alright. Although Well_ctf is on the red line a lot of people don't seem to like it either. Turbine is another one that is red lined. Kind of funny but its pretty much the CTF maps that people don't like because after you cap twice it turns into a turtle fest. And If you do happen to cap three times you still have to cap 9 more times to change the map.

Why not just change the wins from 4 to 2 on well and turbine and 1 on 2fort. I think that having much lower numbers will help rotate these maps out faster and maybe encourage people to cap more.
