Honestly, I'd still put more money into the PSU.

When I'm building gaming PC's I just don't feel right if I don't put something name brand with four rails in it.

I hope you do know power supplies degrade over time, like software said... Plus 450 watts would really limit overclocking

Overclocking is basically worthless in terms of real world performance and severely stresses your system.

Eeh its useful for me. I unlocked and overclocked my 6950 to a 6970 and get like on average 7 more fps. It's not much but to me it's better than spending another 50 dollars for the 6970.

I don't know, I've always tuned my shit for maximum lifetime and minimal stress.

I've never gone as far as to underclock, but my Q6600 idles at like 40 degrees on my current setup.

I have my memory overclocked because it was like 4.99 a gig for ddr2 533, and that's pathetic. It's running at like 800mhz or something.

I would buy a PSU with more watts from what i'm seeing let say 500-650 watts? The higher the PSU the less stress/work is put onto it(meaning it'll last you quite a while and less chance for your PSU to fail on you and take out your other computer parts). Sure you may not need the extra watts but it's better to be safe then sorry.

That's why you get 80+ Gold/Platinum PSU(My response if you were being sarcastic which I can't tell because usually the more watts PSUs are more efficient any ways etc). Also if you decide to upgrade later you don't need to change le PSU later on.

80+ certification doesn't change the fact that you can still get another 5%-10% out of it by using less than 70% of the rated wattage.
