The model is supposed to be bone merged onto a player model. If you want to work with them separately why don't you edit the model such that it's only one glove.

OR

Cool trick:
Since the camera was close to the heavy, you could have had two sets of heavy gloves where one glove from each set was off screen and the other glove on the heavy. This would've allowed individual positioning and nobody would have known there was a glove off each side of the screen.
