as complez as the game and storyline r i dont see how hollywood could possible fuck this one up...i mean doom was a simple shootem up with not much of storyline.mix that with a mediocre director and u get a shitty movie,and this DOA movie is gonna suk i just know it, i mean talk about no stryline,this is gonna totally blow. halo movie on the otherhand might just be what hollywood needs,it already has a great story, music,it makes u feel like ur watchin a movie whne u play it.....but still out of all the games ive played,id hav 2 say halflife cud make a great movie,hollywood not need 2 change the story 2 try and spicen things up,its perfect the way valve wrote it,all hollywood would hav 2 do is make the set and hire acters.

Reason being - You are Gordon Freeman.

You never see yourself. You experience everything. You ARE Gordon. That is one of the reasons HL worked. Thus why gordon doesn't talk. You react to events and characters, not some Main Character in game.


You can't do this in a movie and this is one of the key features in the HL universe.

I love the story of Half-Life. I think it could make a fantastic book/movie. But.. it wouldn't make a good Video Game -> Movie adaptation without taking away some of the core elements.

Also - Playing HL1 is awesome. Watching it would not be. (Though HL2 could make a great movie)
Notice doom. Doom was a game with tons of enemies. Doom the movie was a movie with.. what like 3 or something? Excluding the STUPID end fight where the camera went FP.
Doom wasn't that bad of a video game movie adaptation. It still wasn't good, and it didn't have the feel that the games did. In my mind, it was an unintentional betrayal.


I hope they never do a Half-Life movie.
