Getting rid of mouse acceleration completely.

There are also links for fixes in XP and Vista.

This is amazing and I'm sad I didn't find this sooner. It takes a while to get used to, but it helps your aim a whole lot.

Even if you turn off mouse acceleration (by turning "Enhance Pointer Prescision" off), there is still some acceleration being performed.

Look at the gifs on this page: http://donewmouseaccel.blogspot.com/2010...on_28.html

Try this and let me know what you think. And if you've been using this, why the hell didn't you tell me sooner. Tongue

Edit: I think you might have to google the name of the file for the xp/vista fix since I think the direct link is down on that page.

If only that worked for Metro 2033, which is practically unplayable on the PC because of it's shitty negative acceleration

Yessir. I noticed a difference right away. I just used the mouse normally for a few days before jumping into TF2. Today was the first day I've played any video games for almost two months, and I have to say that while I'm still adjusting, I'm feeling much better about my aim. And when I miss, it's really easy to see how I'm over compensating for shots (remnants of the acceleration). It makes shots feel more "repeatable."

I'm also interested to know if anyone else experiences a difference.

Unless you are playing console ports where they didn't remove it.

Oh wow, been testing it out. Its hard to get used to at first, had to raise my sensitivity, but I'm loving it.

I am going to test this out later in game. Hawkens told me it increased his solider/demo performance by a lot, lol.

I realized awhile back that moving my mouse in a circular path was producing a flat oval unless set to a specific setting (which upon inspection was indeed the 6/11 tick as stated in that article). I never knew why it did that.

I believe a good mouse is one of the most important pieces of hardware. Get a USB laser mouse with the highest report rates possible. I do not like mouse smoothing. I do like low acceleration but can never fine tune it right in TF2. Keeping it off is better than using a setting that feels unnatural.

Also, a cheap keyboard doesn't always perform well for games that require several keys to be pressed simultaneously. If you experience a lot of ghost or stuck keys, consider getting a good gaming keyboard.
