Does this take skill?
#1

You see it pretty regularly - spawn camping, point whoring. It seems there are some players whose sole purpose in the game is just to rack up the points. But doesn't this take a respectable amount of skill for some players to get away with it over and over again? Is the continuous growth of points as a result of these actions a good indicator of skill?

I think more about the people getting killed these these type of players than the "players racking up points" themselves. You have to be pretty damn unskilled the watch through the same spawn exit 10 times in a row getting killed by stickies when there are other exits to use. And that just doesn't go for spawns. getting killed the same way over and over makes you more unskilled than the people killing you.

Are you talking about hlxstats points or just in game points?

I find it hilarious when you kill them over and over and they don't even try something else.

(Insta2fort, some demomen camp the grate/sewer-stairs for ... 240-300 minutes straight... and then they get utterly raped when you come from behind)

If you are able to camp in one spot and merk everyone there then yes it takes skill due to the fact that they dont have the ability to take you out until 3 minutes later.

Yes and no.

Say they get five kills for every walk back to that same spot, without really trying. Well then they get a point increase without much effort at all.

However, some people do it more actively by switching which exit they camp, and actually make an attempt to stay alive.

So I think in some instances it can take skill, but in a lot of cases it takes little to none.
