Okay, I don't know where people get this fucking misconception from. But the intention of betas is both to iron out bugs, and to give people a demonstration of the final product. It is perfectly reasonable to have fears that the final product will be just like the beta.
And yes Diablo 2 WAS harder on normal, because it didn't hold my fucking hand like I was a toddler.
Diablo 3 IS pretty linear so far, and, until I see evidence that proves otherwise I won't be shocked if that is how the final game is too. Especially since they removed things like pvp.

Not to argue against anything you said Snarf, but they said they would patch in pvp.

Yeah, they were going to add pvp, I know. But it's not the same way that it was in d2. Last I recall there were no plans to add things like open world PvP. Which honestly was quite a bit of fun. Not something to do all day, but it was still fun.
Hopefully they will give us some more commands for hosting games. Right now it doesn't appear there is even any basic functionality as far as hosting goes. If someone is being a complete ass, it doesn't appear there is any way to get rid of them other than leaving.
