So now that CIV V(five, 5) has arrived, who's going to buy it? I'd like to but I still have nightmares of buying CIV IV(four, 4)on release day and dealing with its problems. You might recall, standard NVIDIA cards at that time(2005) were the 6xxx I think. CIV IV had a memory leak which made that game unplayable from 1500 AD on. The ATI mainline cards had a worse problem that gave the game a white screen when the game crashed, which was often.
Still, CIV V is receiving rave reviews. I'll probably wait for at least 4 months when the game is patched up to a 'better' state. Then again, I could
i)Wait one year for the first add on
ii)Wait two years for a bundle pack to be released and also a second expansion with new and improved units/features
iii)Wait three years for a super bundle pack to be released.

Or you could wait for a proper scene to release and crack it before you buy it so you know A. If it's a buggy untested launch and B. If you seriously want the game.

not everyone wants to be a lowlife worthless thief like you, snarf.
The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.

Not every game has a demo. And nobody likes to be burnt by a bad dev.

I thought it was pretty damn fun from the demo and I didn't see any bugs. I would buy it if I had the cash.

First mini-patch just came out. Yea, I'll be waiting for several months before I pick up CIV V. I know there will be more patches in the next few months to smooth out the rough edges.

It's very good. I find myself completely losing track of the time when I play, which is pretty much how Civ games are. Graphics are nice, but nothing mind blowing. The hex grid is fantastic. The new combat system is loads better, and the fact that you can't stack units of the same type (so just one military and one worker unit in a tile) really adds to the strategy of battles.
Overall, it is my favorite Civ so far. I thought some of the old ones had too much micro managing with the cities, and that's been streamlined a lot.
As for bugs, I did just run into one. Was at war and was beating the other civ to the point where they made a peace deal where they gave me all but one of their cities. I made them all puppets at first, then annexed a few to get things rolling while razing a few others I thought were unneeded. I got the message saying I need to set up a city with something to produce, but clicking it wouldn't do anything, and all of my non-puppet cities were set to produce something. Couldn't figure out a way around it, and doing a save+reload didn't fix it.
Haven't looked too much into it, but hopefully I can get it fixed. Glad I changed the auto save from 10 turns to 3.
