Banned: Consistently exploiting architectural flaws

I have more of a problem with him just repeating the same fallacious bullshit.

Like the part where you stated the other side can't do it, when in fact they can? Or are you not counting that in your "fallacious bullshit" category?

The other side can do it, but from what I have seen it isn't nearly as easy to hit people on the other battlements, and is easier to counter. (landing a pipebomb anywhere on that roof will have it roll down on them, whereas you have to actually get it through that window to hit them). And I am leaving myself open for correction on this one because I've never sat on the battlements for long enough to actually check this out. (except when I'm playing sniper, or the significantly more fun WRANGLER SNIPER, in which case it has no bearing on this.)

And for a minor correction the term "Fallacious" implies a logic error, not a factual integrity error, and the fallacies I am referring to are the ones that imply that this is still not open to individual interpretation.

Everything that can be said here has already been said here and the only thing that will differ is the meaningless analogies and personal anecdotes which don't have any real impact on the matter at hand.

So I think that you should just let this die until an actual developer at Valve decides to make a judgment on it.

Posting in an awful thread.

It's easiest / best on the BLU side, because not only are the slats larger giving a wider field of view to shoot, it's truly on the roof (horizontal) and not the wall (vertical), so it allows you to hit the other side of YOUR battlements in case there's an entrenched demoman or soldier over there trying to kill you from distance.

It allows you to be countered a tad easier, since it's less difficult to land a grenade between the slats than it is the RED window, but its pros outweigh its cons.

And to be clear, I persued the topic in terms of whether or not it's an exploit to show how it was at very least questionable. If Walker comes back and says it's an exploit, even with that same window in other maps with the same properties, fine. Heck, even if it became a SourceOP standard to disallow it regardless of how Walker responds, fine.

This was always about how lousy of an admin call it was. Even if it wasn't my conspiracy-esque theory of a personal problem, having pages and pages shows it's at very least questionable, and to be giving 10-day bans without warning for things this questionable is just plain lousy judgment.

Robin has responded to some later emails of mine, but not the one about this. Therefore, he has ignored it. I've posted my own opinion earlier.

Robin has no idea HOW THE FUCK HE LET THAT WINDOW GET IN THERE.

Drunken_F00l Wrote:Personally, I wouldn't have banned for it, but only to avoid drama like this. It is pretty clear to me that it shouldn't be allowed but it's minor enough and easy enough to counter that I wouldn't worry about it.

Just in case any of you missed it

I am Half-Duplex`, and I approve this message.

After reading all 12 pages of this and my eyes about to explode, my opinion is this:

Can you shoot through the windows both ways or just 1 way?

If it's only 1 way then it's a design flaw being exploited.

If it's 2 way then it's just the way the map is.

Yes, having played a ton of Source Instant Spawn 2fort (I admit it and not ashamed of it) I see this as the way the map was meant to be built.

It may be more difficult to shoot pipes through it from the outside but it's possible and as others have stated countered multiple ways.

I also agree with Duplex when he quote's DF since DF has final say.

Please come to a solution and close this thread so I don't have to read anymore of it.

And FWIW, your attitude here doesn't make anybody want to listen to you jerclay, whether you are right or not. Half the battle is the way you present your argument. I'm not saying you have to kiss their ass but being a d-bag doesn't make anybody want to listen to you.

The solution is to not do it. The entire argument was Jerclay making a big deal about a 1-day ban and trying to make up a conspiracy on the flimsy basis of a subjective game-play flaw/element.

We can file that right along side the "it's not fair because the other side can't do the same thing" folder, so it can share in the glory your informed opinion deserves.

And yes, the window is 2-way. It's a purposely-made hole in the architecture surrounded by a cosmetic window that appears in other maps the same way.
