AutoScramble.....
#41

no, autoscramble only sucks when there is stacking. If the teams are balanced it doesn't suck. Either way, autoscrambling and stacking coexist, and they both suck Tongue

it's just a question of which is worse

No, auto-scramble, scrambles balanced teams. If one team is a hair better, but both competitive teams still get scrambled.

At least before auto-scramble competitive teams were able to stay competitive for a whole map, people cooperated with each other more often and when it wasn't even right away, teams made adjustments, making for funner gameplay.

meh. I play on servers where scramble is only done after a number of consecutive wins, or wins in very short time.

On there, BOTH teams are stacked, its only the question: who you like to play with? They allowed stacking, and teams of 6 or more on both side wage heavy war on each, which does a lot for the gameplay. yes, that makes a bit steep learn curve for newbies, but at least they can learn fast to play better.

Scramble every 2 rounds would annoy the hell out of me. Cos I know certain players do certain things on the "stacked" side where I chose to be, players being on the other side of it means that the balance is gone, then a map or stage lasts for bout 1 minute before red is overrun and will be spawncamped themselves or that blue cant leave spawn for the rest of the round.

The gloves have come off, and servers getting more and more better players, or groups of players that play for fun but are good and want to play with eachother. A bunch of those could play competition, but often cant make those tight schedules or w/e (work, life etc). It ends often up on accusations of cheaters etc by the noobs. But those players where checked a lot of times already.

/edit: lol, I just looked at the poll, answer above was about the scrambler ppl talked bout, but the poll is bout auto-balance, which is an entirely different thing (having no bigger difference than 1 player per team), that one should be on. Next time, make the poll question right.... voted for the question that autobalance is on, and that should be on imo.

Read OP - Poll is about auto-scramble (TYPO)

cant undo my vote.

would have abstained, cos the question in the poll never was corrected, so that would have been a invalid poll.

I think what really needs to be weighed is playing time? I know people complain about team stacking but are those people playing MORE since the scramble was implemented? Or are they doing the same things that I have noticed such as logging off when you get a complete boneheaded team setup? I understand that many people want this utopia even final score cage match between two well built teams but that is not going to happen. I would ask that this community stop screaming for ideas to be implemented that causes people to log off. 2fort is practically dead some of you may rejoice but that means less community members and potential community members. Four out of six servers were empty last night. If regulars log off then new people will just looked for packed communities and sourceop won't be it.

I fail to see the argument about autoscramble "breaking cooperation"

If you were working together as one large team in the first place, why is it so hard to take little friendly leadership in the player setting and put that working together as a team back together just with slightly different people?

What, afraid of strangers? Can't do it without your friends?
They were your "enemies" and now you're afraid they won't like you even though in video game people rarely care about that only care for winning?

Ever looked at it from a tactical point of view? or really look at yourself what happens when your on a team with friends?

ok, what works best in Team Fortress 2? yes, work as a team, but what does that exactly MEAN?

k, lets take a server without scramble doing its work. Friends join their friends if possible. They start to team up with each-other and make small groups of 2-3 ppl (2 if no medic, 3 if one is medic often). Those small teams take a route and make good offense there. They start building a weighted team (heavy +medic + pyro) Those end up in top scoring list.

now the friends are scrambled, the medic is now on the other team... now they take random ppl to heal, or are no medic anymore and go solo. Weakens both teams. There are tricks to know whom to follow, but most players don't pay that much attention to other players, or to the tactics. Players trickle out of spawn alone. It takes a number of lives for ppl to get arranged and have a tactic. ppl take their "want to play class", and lose for it.

this is why scramblers on pubs don't work well, and why a good one only changes 2 or 4 ppl of team, and doing such a small job. Let them stack, and let them stack both sides. they form groups, and wage war. The only downside is, once the groups become too big, if one leaves, the rest leaves sometimes too, draining an server empty.

Hi. I'm new here. Can someone explain what the conditions are that bring about an autoscamble?
