Auto-balance Avoidance
#1

Is this a new feature added to the servers? I've never had it happen before. It's a 5 min temp ban for switching to spec after being auto-balanced. Obviously the pros outweigh the cons, but it's kind of annoying for those of us who just want to game (medic) with friends.

Possible Solution: I've seen on a few different servers a "buddy" system which allows players to select a player (friend, medic buddy, etc) and then lock their selection (the other player has to do the same). The players "buddy-d" (wtf?) with each other will be on the same team (even after auto-balance and team scrambles) unless they change their selections.

Love,

(inb4 don't teamstack, play a diff class, use a diff server, etc.)

theres ways that you can still play with your buddy, if youve been swapped, have him join you on the other team. If youve been swapped and your original team suddenly has fewer people than your new one you can join that team directly again. Just cant jump to spec or leave and rejoin immediately after being auto'd

I got nailed by this once. The thing that bothered me most about it was that the instant I got switched, somebody stacked on the team I just left. Someone was waiting for a spot to free up, helping causing the unbalance, and causing me to get switched. Quite frustrating to get a temp ban slapped onto that.

Autobalance is an awful, but unfortunately, necessary feature.

This is, truly, one of the most FU'ed up things I've ever seen.

I joined a SourceOP server today, specifically to play with somebody that is a clan member. I have been playing on the SOP servers for a long time now.

I got auto-team switched (ok, bfd, it happens all the time), so I go into spectate like I do, or my buddy does (something we do all the time so we can play together) because it happens a lot, and bam.

So, yeah, this is truly one of the most fucked-up things I've experienced in my 5+ years of playing TF2.

I made it beyond clear to my buddy that I have zero intention of returning to any SOP server so long as this feature is in place.

And no, I'm not going to become a donating member. I am already on a clan and pay my clan fees for that clan. I should not have to pay just to play with a buddy who I play with a LOT on this server.

Die less, you don't get switched if you don't die.

I was a commando you know.

I have never seen you on this server , and it looks like you are a stacker if you guys joined the unstacked team you wouldnt get autobalance, unless you die like 20 times . and why arent you playing in your clans server anyways
