Auto Team-Balancing for Your Own Benefit
#61

Here's the problem with this mod so far DF:

In comes douchebag teamstacker #1. He doesn't want to join the team with fewer people, and he waits in spec long enough to force autobalance. He then gets to join the team he wants.

Douchebag stacker #2 joins spec from his team, seeing an imbalance of only 1 player. He forces autobalance and someone gets switched to the team he didn't want to be on.

Your mod punishes the person who got autobalanced by a douchebag. 2fort regular almost emptied around 9:00 pm b/c of this. Much stacking and rolling ensued later. No problems were solved, only created.

It doesn't catch all douchebag stackers, but I don't see how it creates more problems. You only get punished if you're balanced and then do something to circumvent it.

Maybe you shouldn't go spectator and try to rejoin the team you were just balanced off? No system is perfect.

I was a commando you know.

What about the situation where you are autobalanced, and pretty quickly, your team gets up to 16, where your old team is up to 15? I've actually had that happen a few times before and swapped back to my old team.

I don't quite understand your post Cue Bee.

This was just implemented, before so there was no system in place for this...least as far as I know.
Are you saying by 9pm TODAY that this had happened? or is this in general? if its in general then this had nothing to do with the new addition.

I think in your case fides that would require you to be auto-balanced twice. Your talking about being switched back and forth right? I doubt it'll kick for that. That takes time to happen. Probably longer then necessary for the temp ban to kick in.

Rather then hypothesize whats going to happen lets just see what does. If a problem occurs with the new forced auto-balancing fix then we can just inform DF and have it fixed from there. Guessing problems isn't going to help that much.

there's still the problem of doing a retry when you get auto'd, then waiting in spec, but hey, at least this disables the easiest way.

Yes Kia I'm talking about what did happen last night, not long after the new plugin was enabled.

DF I'm sorry but I just don't see how this benefits any server other than stacktastic Goldrush. Are you saying that it's wrong for a person who was forced into an autobalance by a stacker to want to return to their team? I know you can't catch all the stackers, but this may be a case where it would be better to catch none than some. Maybe we should just go back to not having spec again.

The nice thing is that eventually people will figure it out and they won't force the autobalance anymore. Might be a pain at first but it will catch on.

Na, it catches that.

It doesn't matter why you were autobalanced. The mentality of "oh, I was balanced, but the other team doesn't actually need me" needs to go away.

I'm not even arguing that point. I'm simply saying that the worst kind of teamstacking is when someone joins spec to force autobalance to begin with. This plugin practically rewards that behavior.

Edit: Maybe someone could make a plugin that forces people who join spec to stay in spec for at least 5 minutes? This would allow people to spec as necessary to demo cheaters while also punishing all types of teamstackers. IDK if this is actually possible or if it has been suggested before, but it's an idea.

Edit 2. Hah OZA might have beaten me to the punch.
