Arghh Poker Night was Rushed
#1

(Before I start, I'd just like to say this isn't a Poker Night bashing post, I'm just curious to see if others are having the problems as well)

So just started up Poker Night, and I'm liking the gameplay, but man, it's loaded with bugs and the bad optimization is already evident. Shadows on high quality are extremely shitty (no smoothing whatsoever on self-shadows), there appears to be no built-in AA filter, though turning AA on in the drivers control panel enables AA to a certain degree. There tons of strange LOD artifacts, and a bunch of some smaller glitches.

The only problem that really bothers me though, is the performance. My computer can handle Crysis, I play TF2 with the graphics at their max with HD texture mods, and I can keep a steady 61 FPS (VSync Enabled), when I started up poker night, my FPS was fluctuating from 15 FPS to 55 rapidly most of the time. I don't mind low FPS when it stays low, but when you're going from 15 FPS to 50 and back all the time, its hard to get used to it.

Anyone else noticed this as well?

I'm not going to rule out that its just a problem with my computer, but all of my other (and some more graphically intense) games work fine, my temps are staying low, and chkdsk is showing any issues.

The game was definitely rushed and I'm disappointed in the final release. But cmon the game was only $5.00 8)

Everything you have said is completely true. I think Telltale got drunk after seeing how much money they were making from the TF2 sales and forgot to optimize it. I also can't change my settings at all for some reason, which is disappointing as I can't change the "Idle-chit-chat" setting. Cry

The AI was pretty wacky, from really ballzy to just dumb. I love poker and this kinda fills it, but I was hoping for a better challenge.

My only complaint about the engine is the long load after the TTG logo. Other than that, I've had no crashes but it seems they capped the FPS at 30 during gameplay. Its 60 during animations and such.

Also, protip, right-click will skip most things.

I don't think TellTale is that bad a dev, they can't be any worse than activision or ubisoft.

I was a commando you know.

I don't think that anybody important from telltale actually put any time into this abortion.
