Most puzzle games like this are zzzzz but amnesia(which was made by the same people as penumbra) has a good balance between puzzle and horror. Most of the puzzles aren't too difficult but at the same time won't insult your intelligence and the game is generally unsettling.

do you also go by PyroTeknik
because you and he are both equally obsessed with this mediocre game
pro tip: if you're looking for a game that will put you in situations that let you be a man and face your fears this isn't a game for you as all you can fuckign do is get scared and hide in closets.
The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.

generic run and gun fps>good puzzle survival horror. What the fuck are you going to do to the monsters? beat them to death? Amnesia is not resident evil 5.

Penumbra was pretty bad.
Adventure games rely 100% on writing in order to make it enjoyable and the people that wrote and directed Penumbra were terrible. They need to stop killing this genre.
I don't know about that other one but if it has anything to do with the people who made the other turd then keep it away.

Yeah the writing in penumbra was god awful, amnesia improved a lot on that and the games never really were as focused on adventure as they were the survival horror.

Which can dictate over half the game. This is like saying left 4 dead is the same as css because they're both fps's

Left4dead is the same as CSS because they are both mindless twitch-based shooters.
The only difference is that you are fighting hundreds of melee-only bots instead of 12 normal ones.

Your opinion decides the difference between two games.

I bet you think that l4d and l4d2 were both completely original and different because one took place in new orleans, despite game-play being completely identical.
By your logic World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft are different games because the ambiance changes.
