Ok, now that I have a little bit of time to post what I think about L4D...
Lets see.
Well, I haven't spent all too much time in the single player mode, I really don't care for it. I've played a few campaign levels online with some friends. But to be perfectly honest with you, I don't get much of a thrill knowing I'm playing against the computer. There are very few games I can play by myself, and have fun...usually they are adventure games.
With that said, I think the multiplayer can be a tad bit better, in a number of different areas.
The special infected should be a bit stronger. They practically die in one shot. Granted, I know they aren't suppose to be insanely powerful otherwise the survivors would stand absolutely no chance. But given the 20 second respawn time, and almost an addition 10 seconds to find a spot to actually spawn...you're really only alive for a short while. Unless you camp (which isn't always a bad thing). I also think, that as a smoker and/or hunter, you should be able to stop your attacks. Its pretty pathetic that you have no control over your character once you grab a survivor. From that point on you're pretty much a sitting duck. I mean, you know you're going to die because the survivors are coming for you...and yet there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to prevent it from happening, thats weak.
I think it's pretty lame that the survivors can see the aura of each other through walls. It makes it a walk in the park when you have to save an ally. Although it is difficult in SOME cases...but for the most part you can melee your way through, unless a smoker snags your ass. I'd like to try it without the aura for the survivors. I think this would emphasize a lot more on the "lets stick together" game plan. It would also make ambushes more crucial.
I've been told that the purpose of the survivors is to have everyone survive. The way I see it, thats in an ideal situation. And though I strive for it, if there is one straggler, then its up to the final 3 to make it together....or final 2....or final 1....whatever. On that same note, I think its awesome that once you're dead as a survivor...then you're dead until the next round, but god damn it does it take a while for those survivors to die, at least the good survivors.
Aside from those minor discrepancies, I have fun every now and then when I play. No where near as fun as TF2, but maybe with a little elbow grease, they can polish it off to be top-notch...at least I hope. The weapon system is straight and to the point. Each item fits with the theme of the game. I certainly hope they do not add any rocket launchers or some shit, that would suck.
Thats pretty much it, I can go on but thats way too much to type and read, its already long enough. I'll sum it up for those who didn't care to read my rant...
Summary: Good game, needs minor fixes.
add elements from Disaster: Day of Crisis to make it more apocalyptic
could be walking along and "SUDDENLY FUCK LAND FISSURE"

It needed critical hits to please duplex.
It needs less Hell-met on my nuts to please me.
