so you are telling me that you actually notice the 20% melee speed decrease, or that you play with soldiers and heavies that suck enough to let you hit them to death with a bonesaw?

i dont recall saying any of this, thank you
your point of view on the game mechanics is simply flawed to death
The only player class faster is the scout.Originally Posted by OmegaZero_Alpha

medics are the same speed as "everybody else", who are barely faster than the demo, meaning that the only people noticeably slower than him are the soldier and the heavy, who would blow him

to your question directed at me, omega:
no, i do not personally notice the speed decrease, which is why i made the post, and why i put "negative" in quotes.
melee weapons were designed for burst damage (with the exception of axetinguisher) and because of that fact, attack speed determines very little in the form of usefulness.
ubersaw, negligibly slower attack speed, +%ubercharge/hit, uber-chain utility, good burst damage
bonesaw, negligibly faster attack speed, no utility, good burst damage
IMO, there is no reason to ever use the bonesaw once you acquire the ubersaw. which isn't balanced IMO since valve said early on they wanted items to feel "different" not "better"
No, Omega, you're wrong. Medics run at 320 units per second while "everybody else" runs at 300. I just double checked, and it's still true. This is one of the reasons being a medic during a melee battle is beneficial. It's a big enough difference to allow you to successfully run away from everyone except scouts.Originally Posted by OmegaZero_Alpha
which really begs the point, why is a medic in melee range ever? he has the speed to gain the distance advantage, and with the health leach of the Blutsauger, theres really little reason aside from uber chains and afk kills to be face to face.
well, i guess if you need that burst damage, like if the other player is at <25% hp.
good medics will rely on occasional 195-dmg boomsticks more than itty bitty needles
i r good medic
yeah i guess its really situational
I find the ubersaw to be just slightly overwhelming. (note, I did not say overPOWERED) I'm a decent soldier on my off days and I (like to imagine) a clem-esque soldier on my good days. I can juggle most pyros and medics but it seems that once-in-a-while medic that has no buddy and is desperate, pulls out his ubersaw and without fail instacrits and sends my corpse flying across the map.
I played medic like everyone else when the patch came out, but I continued to play medic after the hype and I'm fairly well acquainted with the nuances of each saw. I dont think a 20% speed reduction is really a big enough drawback. \0= Then again, the normal saw crits like a maniac also and seemingly swings as fast as a scout bat (especially in the heat of battle)
