    Vacation and gta 4

I am counting the days untill i go on vacation in nov, i know this might be "old hat" for some of yas but i am getting gta 4 for the pc. I have it preordered and have laid in supplies beef jerky and single malt irish whiskey. I hope the game is as good as San Andreas was. Rockstar has always imho done an excellent job with the gta series. I was torn between saints row 2 and gta 4 but i figured since i "mouthed off" monthly trying to get some information on the release date for gta4 and, rockstar actually answered, i owed them first crack at my wallet. I am hoping that i have enough pc to run it; Intel core 2 quad 2.4ghz, bfg geforce 8800gtx oc2 768mb, 4 gig ddr3 1066 ram. My vacation is from nov 10 to dec 6 almost 3 weeks i should be able to play through the entire game in that time frame huh?

not trying to burst your bubble,

but saints row 2 so far has been wayyyy better,

gta4 still has it in graphics, physics, story, and dialogue..

    but gameplay? SR2.

(thats a nice pc, i have the same but not enough room in my case for the gtx so i got the gt)

    thanks

Thanks i have to say that around june my video card burned out and i was seriously bummed having spent the extra money to buy a BFG in the first place, i expected it to last more than a month. I will also add that i work nights so it was after 2am when i called thier tech line looking for a RMA# and ACTUALLY got to talk to a REAL LIVE PERSON, (no shit). I sent it back to BFG by UPS, what is awesome is that the turn around was less than 10 days. They sent me a new card overnite shipping (yea no shit, overnite) and sent me a t-shirt as well so i am now a BFG fan and can reccomend that you spend the extra if necessary to purchase thier cards.

When i built my machine in april of this year i went with as close to top of the line as i could afford. I kind of figured that since gta4 is a port of the consoles i would have enough performance to run the game at 1024x768 and all the eye candy turned on. I was comparing saints row 2 vs gta4 but i had to go with rockstar for already mentioned reasons and that every gta series i played rocked so i gave the edge to rockstar. I will eventually buy SR2 and there is another sandbox type comming out from codemasters called Heist that i have been looking at. I also liked scarface as well not so much in the Tony Montana impersonations but from some novel things like the phone was your interface with the game functions. You could buy ammo, call for a car, trigger missions, and that simplified the interaction of the player with the game. I understand that gta 4 also utalizes that and the cop radius from scarface as well.
Looking forward to finding that special someone .

Good choice on GTA4 over Saints Row 2. Saints Row 2 will still be badass of course but GTA4 is much better in many different ways.

Your rig seems decent enough to run it at pretty high enough settings. The only thing you need to make sure you have is the disk space. I heard it's gonna require 18GB of free space!

The requirements are going to be a bit higher than Saints Row 2 so I won't be able to play GTA4 just yet and will have to settle for Saints Row until I get my new rig next month.
