Except, once you get into it the game doesn't feel generic at all. There are enough differences in the classes that they don't really feel the same. There are some similarities but the classes in general are VERY different. For example, couple days ago I rolled a jedi sentinel fully expecting a very generic warrior. What I got however felt VERY different from a warrior, there is still a "rage" meter of sorts, and you still need to spam a minor attack to get your stronger abilities, but the abilities themselves are well designed and feel like they have real weight to them. Overall the abilities are what make the game fun, they are designed well enough that they are very satisfying to execute.
I've played the game for awhile now and I feel confident in saying that it's at least worth a try if you want to play an mmo. If you are cautious you could always wait for a trial to come out once the game is a bit more polished and the price has gone down.

So far it seems more than adequate. It feels very much like the KOTOR experience, with so much story and depth that the multiplayer aspect actually feels like more of an afterthought than anything else. It kind of feels like KOTOR 3, but with social interaction. I'm having a blast and I've barely even scratched the surface.

Just watching a friend play, from the surface it seems that SWTOR is better than WoW at release dates (though with a 6 year difference in release dates that's expected). The PvP is actually now balanced (In that the biggest difference between a lvl 1 and a lvl 50 is the spells one can use) unlike WoW too.

Actually that is wrong. Level 50 characters with pvp gear are pretty unstoppable. This is mostly because of how many skills they have access to that we don't but some of it is all the expertise their gear gives them.

Anyone playing it solo? All the developer commentary mentions it's possible, but I haven't seen reviews really touch on it, or how much it's actually true.
Honestly I just want it to be a KotOR 3 experience.

Well, gear always makes a difference between people, but considering that the issue doesn't appear to be as huge as even the "twink" issue in WoW (funny how I still remember that term ) for a level gap of like 9, I'd say that's a decent upgrade to WoW for PvP. (Of course, I'm basing this solely off of watching a few PvP matches of the Alderaan arena, so I'm not really fully knowledgable about the area).

If by solo you mean without a companion then probably not the ENTIRE game. You could probably play through quite a bit of it solo but certain class quests are pretty difficult especially later in the game.
I genuinely had to bring in a guild mate to help me in my class quest today because as a healer I wasn't able to complete it.
