Vis-à-vis the OS, I actually bought my License key through a third party vendor who claimed to have obtained the keys directly from microsoft. Anyway, the key worked perfectly (I was doubtful of it working at all) and it only cost me £49.99 ~ $75. It was Windows 7 Ultimate for the record.
Sorry for the necropost but I want to ask louis something. Which site did you went to in order to get the key? I'm also building a gaming computer and in Australia the prices are bullshit for windows 7... thanks in advance if you reply.

I torrented that shit. It works like a charm. To be honest license are way to expensive, though I have ended up buying one from a friend.

besides being a totally dead thread and revived too many times already, piracy is bad.
